Hello everyone, day before yesterday I was replacing bottom speaker of my iphone 12 mini and I accidently dropped the pentalobe bit screwdriver on the battery from about 5-6 inche height and it fell right in the middle making a very tiny ding and it went through the black rubbery cover. I kept the phone aside in the open immediately and waited for it to go up in flames but nothing happened. There was no sparking either when I dropped it. Its been two days since and phone’s been running fine. I have already ordered a battery replacement but it will arrive by sunday. I am being extra cautious but should I use the phone or remove the battery immediately ? Does lithium battery blow suddenly ?
Lithium poly doesn’t explode. It smokes slowly and catches fire.
How full is the battery? Charged is more dangerous than flat. I’d keep it in a safe place until the replacement arrives just for your own peace of mind.

Just to be safe don’t use it, keep battery away from the phone.
The battery doesn’t explode suddenly, it catches fire, and you won’t be able to extinguish it immediately until all the energy is released.
Thermal run away problem.
