Air Fryer - Healthy Options?

To be clear I’m not asking whether air frying is healthier or not. I have some opinions on that. But that is a topic for another day. and Yes, I know the term ‘Air Fryer’ itself is contestable but that is not the point here.

After some research, I found out that the healthy option in Air Fryer is the one with Stainless Steel basket (instead of plastic/aluminum) and the inner coating with Ceramic non-stick coating (instead of Teflon etc). But not much options turn up in Amazon. Do we even have such models in India? and if you have an Air Fryer please share your experiences.

Thanks wasn’t aware.

Even I am looking for one. From what I can understand, having ceramic increases the weight, which can cause the inner tray to let go in the future thus spillage and wastage.

I have this in mind, it has SS in the exterior.

This is the first one I saw when I searched for stainless steel air fryer but it also mentions non-stick coating but doesn’t clearly mention if it is teflon or not.

It is one of the reasons that prompted me to start this thread.

You can use silicon baskets/steel plates/bowls in any air fryer.

Air fryer Oven

Yes we at home are trying to not put any food directly on the basket itself while also using either silicon baskets if its something with gravy or slight curry, or disposable brown baking paper if it’s something lighter.

Have the below Havells Grande Air Fryer, and this is good.
I’ve been using it for the past five years, and the coating has shown no signs of burnout or unpleasant odours. As far as I am aware, the basket is made of coated steel and is PFOA-free* *if that helps

I put a S.S bowl inside the airfryer. Or you can use aluminium foil made containers.

I would use this:

https://www.amazon.in/Oddy-Ecobake-Non-Stick-Steamer-Airfryer/dp/B09B4XH9PW

I use the non-perforated version in a regular convection oven, and they’re the bomb. The trays stay clean and the food doesn’t stick.

You do get a variety of sizes, so select based on your basket size.

The product details say it is just ABS plastic and has non stick coating.

Are you specifically looking for basket style models?
I have noticed that the oven style models have stainless steel insides. Trays/racks/skewers etc are also steel. Drip tray is usually aluminium.

Non-stick coatings makes cooking a breeze.

Teflon based can also be fine as PTFE-like materiariaps have melting point of aroung 300 degree Celsius which most air friers do not reach. Just make sure to not chip/break teflon coating surface.

Ceramic is a wide variety of materials some of which leech heavy metals like lead if chpped.

Source : search google.

I thought of buying it , but rather went with 3 in 1 otg which can do microwave convection and grill , felt vfm 30mcgr Morphy Richards model

Ok, so what all can an air fryer do that an OTG cannot do?

Is that safe? I was doing it for a bit before something random I came across suggested it wasn’t, and it’s become a bit of an inconvenience since.

Air frier use rapid air circulation so faster cooking and less preheating.. also req less oil & gives crispy texture.. some google search gives me this … also i think size of air fryer is small which is good for crispy texture vs high temperature oven really expensive in india & use more electricity
