Hello Guys,
It seems that the airtel shaping the torrent traffic for larger files like 6GB or more, I have tried all possible methods to avoid it but no use. Any one of you have any idea to avoid it ??
havent faced any issues here…
Downdloaded a 17.5GB file a few days back and i was getting speeds upwards of 500kBps.
I am downloading 10 GB file and getting consistent 40 KB/s download speed on my 2 MBps airtel connection in bangalore.
Hellgate ur in which location.
Shouldn’t you get 220 KB/s? Im in bangalore and I too have noticed my p2p slowing down a lot!
500 kBps
What plan have you subscribed to?
Correction- 2Mbps and not 2MBps, btw you should be getting 2Mbps or rather 220+KBps
Hmm… is it Dead Space 2??? Be careful, the torrents are being tracked. Peer guardian is opened up already, wont work. But I guess we in India can feel safe.
I’m receiving 1MBPS straight on 10GB file.
:O, impossible! The max speed Airtel has IINM is 2mbps
I have a 4Mbps connection from Airtel, but i get speeds upwards of 5Mbps.
^How much does that plan cost you per month?
i have 4mbps but now a days working as 256Kbps as due to fup my mistake i downloaded 50gb in 8 days and now have to suffer for next 22 days. for me snail mail
How much do you pay for that connection delguy?
I already mentioned that the shaping of bandwidth happens only for big files, for less than 5 GB files i am getting 220 Kbps (2 Mbps thanks for correction).
But I found a way to avoid it i.e using multiple torrent clients and start the same torrent on them. I used 4 clients for download and results are great.
Finally completed this morning

LOL, but I heard that Airtel removed the download limits.
who said airtel remove download limits none my connection fup every month within 8 to 10 days and rest of 20 days i live and suffer with 256Kbps

i pay 1799
Yup, even though glasnost doesn’t show any problem, I’m sure Airtel is throttling my speed. The max speed I’m getting while downloading from torrents is around 60-80KBps. I should be getting 240-260KBps as i am on the 2MBps unlimited plan…
but lots of things depend on seeds and peers too
Yes, Airtel is throttling P2P connections. I am observing this for the past 15 days or so and I can confidently say they are limiting the speeds. My 4Mbps (512KBps) connection downloads at only 128KBps during the day and the same file downloads at 512KBps+ at night (after 12AM).
I have seen this happen with files as small as 150MB and all the regular 700MB files, its not limited to larger files.
not if you’re using a private tracker with a lot of seeders…
sorry i meant 1Mbps
