I think the way to think about this is, is the final price worth buying the item for? if so then pay it otherwise don’t. Atleast that’s how I rationalize it
this is old. they are doing this for months now.
Low trust society problem
There should be more competition. Its just flipkart vs Amazon. While us has newegg, walmart and the likes. We need a couple of more homegrown shipping sites for competition.
you basically get the item repalaced ones and then an options appears to return it after that. So you can’t repalace a order 2 times. Its replacement then return
how?
every honest effort is abused by a group which ultimately ruins it for all?
We have TechnologyHell as well @TechnologyHell …
When Amazon India started business here. The customer care was exceptional.
They went out of their way to help customer.
Many Indians started abusing it left, right and center.
In those early days people use to order ps3 games and all and take out the disc and return it , same with mobile and other electronics.
The abuse started becoming so high that some pincodes Amazon and Flipkart even banned delivery.( it was mostly in UP I think but many other places also)
People made lakhs doing this.
Ofcourse they had to bring out more stricter laws.
However, even in US Amazon has become bit strict and as for UK and other European countries it is still better but they too are not so easy at they use to be.
About a decade ago …I had ordered quite a few clothes from Amazon UK. one of Them size on the website seems little in accurate and would not fit well.
I complained and they asked me to return but I told them . I am in India now and I cannot ship it.
They refunded me entire money for that particular cloth. Without asking anything.
I appreciate that.
Infact I once ordered Blu-ray from Amazon UK and it did not arrive for a long time.
I filed a complain for refund and they refunded me.
After a week or so. The blu-ray arrived and I wrote to them. You can charge me back as the blu-ray arrived. It might have been lost for a while in transit.
But they acknowledge it and said its okay. We wont charge you back.
I can understand them being strict now. After all they are a business too and if they allow loopholes people will take advantage.
However, these stupid fees are making it difficult to continue to support them and sometimes due to these stricter policy . Genuine people are suffering too.
Didn’t get the context though
I agree same happened with me in UK but problem is if they start refunding money here like that everyone would ask for a refund all day every day here …It’s indian mentality that’s the problem imo… Fk though ..
Even then I think they look at your account and order history and analyze it, it happened me india too last month I had ordered something it came out sketchy .. Pack of 5 Deos ( Only 4 were there. .. ) so they asked for a pic and refunded the whole amount and let me keep the 4 ( Amazon I mean )… But that’s because I probably have less than 5 returns over an year and lakhs worth of shoping …And also one time I refused Refund when product which wasn’t delivered was apparently marked delivered by the delivery boy but he gave me a day later …
I am pretty sure especially amazon keeps an eye on you spend habbits and trend and also I know someone whose account was banned for too many returns even though all objects were in return window, he was abusing it like buying laptop returning it twice after which they had to refund because he found it cheaper on Fk 2 days later after paying …
So yeah they keep an eye on what kind of customer You are especially in India and that is one of the deciding factors …
Also I think Prime and Black memberships do help with much better support service I have noticed
It is already ruined…
The govt. Has already been made aware of this extra fees. I think this was even acknowledged by the govt. On twitter( X) During Diwali sales( I will post that later)
If they really had too. They would have taken the action by now.
Peak capitalism
Also, GST savings isn’t really passed on to the end customer for most products..
The greedy Indian companies just pocketed the extra profit.
Govt’s shouldn’t get into price policing but these companies and their bad practices should be named and shamed by the public… it works.
Amazon is also testing the waters with open box delivery, where the delivery boy will haphazardly open your product. There are plenty of videos on youtube of flipkart delivery agents tearing up PS5 boxes, dropping brand new phones and what not. Worst part is once you give them the delivery OTP, flipkart/amazon will refuse any further service wrt replacements or refunds and these delivery agents always ask for OTP beforehand and threaten to walk away if you request to check the package first.
Instead of consumer protection, we are being offered 2nd hand goods in banged up boxes by shady sellers and incase you get a seal pack product, the delivery boy will make sure to ruin its condition before handing it over.
If there is a company that offers a better experience than these e-commerce giants, then I would be happy to switch over to them, or else maybe its time to only deal with authorized retailers offline for large purchases.
I wasn’t charged this fee when I purchased using Amazon wallet, kind of makes me think they are trying to push their wallet since its very much behind others.
No but there is a separate fees for it too. I was charged some amount as I bought Rs 850 wallat balance. It was convenience fees .
Didnt realize this as I used the Pay balance that was added as a refund and gift.
Incase someone wants to try, gift yourself a gift card and redeem it by adding to pay balance rather than adding amount to pay balance from card etc.
