if the purpose is just for remote, maybe you could diy an ir blaster device with an esp32, connect it via bluetooth to control from your phone.
I think there would be some prebuilt apps + material regarding this.
would cost nothing compared to a phone, hence the suggestion

Figured out a working remote app for my below mentioned home theatre, works with HARMON AVR8 config
oh i went through your post and saw that you have tested that app out, which means you have access to the IR blasts,
while you cant use the app on the diy solution I suggested, you can read and record the IR codes using an IR receiver and then send them using the IR blaster.
This would take some tinkering and diy.

How much would a custom solution cost? I think there’s a cheap use redmi phone with a cracked display in someone’s desk, that you can easily buy for like < 1k.
