I don’t think this is true. TKL are exactly the same as a regular keyboard without the Numpad. In fact, they are most compatible compared to any other layout with the most keycap.
Switches have nothing to do with layout. All switches are of the same size in all layouts. The only incompatibility comes from 5 pin vs 3 pin switches.
