Any bikers here? Is it possible to replace my old FZS v2 Speedometer to a newer variant like v3 or v4?

Im curious if anyone has done this before. Is it even possible for a newer speedometer could work with an older bike.
Would there be compatibility?
I want a digital display.

Yes why not

Short answer: probably nope.

I don’t know what kind of console FZ have but modern bikes have their consoles tightly integrated with ECUs.

If you wish to change the speedometer, you might as well opt for an aftermarket one with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Procuring the MID is one thing, and then comes a clean installation, service-related stuff. Search your regional quality aftermarket stores.

Any resources you can lead me towards to research about aftermarket speedometers?

this looks ass :skull: :sob:

In short yes, you can swap to an aftermarket or newer cluster but it’s never plug-and-play.

Issues may include, but not limited to, different speed signal types, ECU/immobilizer pairing, wiring pinout changes, and missing/extra features like CAN, ABS, or gear indicator. Physical fit may not line up, and odometer data usually can’t be migrated which raises legal concerns. Fuel sender and tach inputs ( the signal source a speedometer cluster uses to calculate and display engine RPM )also vary between versions.

I used to do it back when I had the FZv1 vivekk. It is not worth the effort. It takes too much time and sometimes things won’t work the way it’s intended to. Sensors will act up, wrong readings. If I were you, I’d make peace with the old display. It looks good in its own right.
