Hypothetically, if prices were negotiable, I’d love to take all 4 for the price of 3 but I have no idea if either 4 for 6k or 4 for 8k is a good deal.

So maybe I’ll wait and see if someone else has an opinion on this.

Hi. Is the Ubiquity AP available? Any idea if it works well with 2 walls between the AP and the client?

Its available and its the LONG RANGE Model so should work well but mileage may vary as all depends upon wall

Good equipment, very sturdy and reliable. I am using it at home currently and depending on placement coverage is good. This is long range model.

It all depends how and where you set it up in terms of placement.

Got a query - they are POE so require POE switch or POE adapter
There can be used with any router , they are basic AP but good quality and long range
One need to use Ubiquiti software to setup username pwd of WIFI etc etc then there is no requirement of ubiquiti software
You cant control its settings from your router

Simple rule of thumb:

2.4GHz can go through two brick/concrete walls

5GHz can go through one brick/concrete wall

That’s for basic consumer grade wifi, with enterprise or prosumer stuff, you get a little more. Not a lot, a little. Physics is still continues to be a thing even when you buy a 30k wifi access point.

Other thoughts/rationale:

These are old devices, these are used devices, but they’re the very best WiFi 5 devices made by Ubiquiti, yes even better than UAP AC Pro that was 3x3 5GHz (even though this is only 2x2 5GHz).

They can be wall mountable, you don’t need to ceiling mount them.

They can be repaired if they die, schematics exist, parts exists. If they die, it’s through a surge by POE, an easy fix by most technicians or even DIY (knock off a diode/mosfet and connect 5V power).

There are 3D printable mounts for these.

I’m personally replacing Mi Router 3Cs that I put up seven years ago, those were Rs 999 each back then.

I expect these to work at least 5 more years and be more reliable than the Mi Routers (they needed reboots about three or four times a year).

I’m paying the asking price, I did not negotiate beyond that even though I hinted at it in my first reply above.

I want more units but money is also a thing.

Five units covers every bedroom, outdoors and dining. I’ll be using them at low power for 2.4GHz and medium power for 5GHz.

Also got these for 3k but dont think these are better than AC-LR
AC-LR seems the best . Whats the major difference between the 2
Can this be run from a POE switch ?

That’s WIFI 4, 5GHz 300mbps and 2.4GHz 450mbps.

Useful if you need 802.11a and 802.11b legacy support.

Kind of worthless for today’s world.

Maybe useful for IoT only networks.

But only if they’re like under 1000.

& more expensive than LR
What crap… :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

Yes

AC LR is 5GHz 867mbps vs 300mbps for the non-AC Pro. Non-AC Pro also has two ports but is older than Windows 10.

Both have 2.4GHz 450mbps.

My experience with these have been flawless.

It feels like moving to a Mercedes from Maruti.

Installation is simple, you reset the device, set up the Unifi app and also setup the unifi network pc software. Post you have your server running it detects the same. You adopt the device, do whatever changes needed and then they are good to go.

If the Unifi application is running on the PC it will keep providing realtime information.

Need POE+ or AT injector to run (AP PRO). These do not work on regular passive poe adpator as they have higher power consumption.
