Awe dropping
The prices, most probably.
I know they are trying a word play on ‘jaw-dropping’, but at first glance, I read it as a parody and meaning ‘awe’ is dropping and Apple is no more ‘awesome’.
New Apple TV, hopefully
Anything particular you want to see in it?
TBH, I’m happy with the current TV and it still purrs. But I wish some of those limitations on DV and audio stuff would be fixed on software side. At least, I’m not sure what hardware has to do with it at present.
Budget macbook would be nice. But I’m really disappointed with the direction in which Apple software and macOS in particular.
See:
Honestly just TrueHD or DTS Passthrough that’s about it, the current Apple TV already does everything I need it to except this
Valid concerns. I echo some of Gruber’s thoughts as well, esp. w.r.t AI, things got out of hand for sure. I’m also not a big fan of Liquid Glass as it’s implemented right now in the betas and I’m curious to see how it launches in the end. Stage Manager I guess was definitely a mistake, at least, we do have proper windowing in iPadOS 26 so I’m glad they didn’t beat the dead horse further.
I’m really curious if this can’t be done on the software side or if there’s anything seriously missing on the hardware that prevents it. DV P7 omission at least is hard to grasp for me.
DTS passthrough is surprisingly rare and I have no idea why. LG has flip-flopped with it on their TVs as has Samsung. Modern devices costing over 1L omitting something as basic as this, maybe things aren’t as straightforward as we think from the outside
they will cap it at 8GB memory then because a large portion of mac users won’t have a reason to get the higher end ones just to watch youtube and surf the internet.
besides i thought ipad was the budget macbook, with ipad os and everything
Baffling for sure but honestly, I’d appreciate if modern TVs crossing over 1L/2L at least take care to get something as basic as a smooth, 60-fps UI working. I was just so disappointed with the G2’s UX when I first got it and it just got worse with every update.
You shouldn’t have to spend so much on a TV and then need to spend another 10/20/30k to get a functional UX.
I think you’re confusing this discussion for something else? We were talking about Apple TV device here.
Nevermind, I missed the “reply”.

I mean if we’re going wild, then docker for iphone?
It’s Apple after all
if they really wanted us to have it , we could’ve had it years ago
Might be doable already, even if slow (thanks to JIT restrictions): https://ish.app/
True, that said the people who do care about it , most likely already own an AVR, it does feel like a weird place to cut corners in
they just revealed their own container implementation a few weeks back didn’t they??
**I don’t believe it’s coming to iPhone or iPad anytime soon but still, MAYBEEEEE
iSH is a project to get a Linux shell environment running locally on your iOS device, using a usermode x86 emulator.
just give me native unix shell to run docker on these expensive glass rectangles and i’ll buy one
