Recently in an attempt to de-google my life little by little, I switched to bitwarden as my password manager and started using Firefox and Helium (chromium based ik). As the next step I’m looking to switch my 2fa app from googles default to a new one.
Wanted your suggestions, so far Ente seems to be one that has piqued my interest. Plus what are some other security measures you think should be taken that are part of your basic setup?
You can use Bitwarden, authy, microsoft authenticator, ente

Is it safe to make bitwarden my password manager and keep it for 2fa, or would it be better to keep them separate?

I would personally suggest Aegis, if you’re on Android

Ye using aegis personally myself , neat and does what’s needed
Don’t combine 2fa and password manager in one app. All in one solutions are less secure than seperate solutions.
I use bitwarden as password manager.
And a combination of authy and ente for 2fa.
I use them as I do need inbuilt sync, windows app, and some software I use only supports authy.

IF we are concerned soo much about security, adding a yubikey to this shall be ultimate/best solution.

Plenty of suggestions here:
I have realised that I have become too dependent on Google Authenticator. As part of my de-googling efforts it is about time to use another app that is more privacy and security minded than GA than convenience minded. tbf GA saved my dumbass once when my pixel 4a phone died. all the codes were backed up in the cloud. but now I’m willing to put more effort to local sync etc.
So please list your different experiences of using various 2FA apps. what are the pros and cons of each. opensource, local…
Based on such suggestions I’m slowly trying out Ente Auth

I had initially transferred to Bitwarden Authenticator as I used Bitwarden password manager, but the Authenticator app is badly designed.
It failed to restore from iCloud and got stuck in a splash screen loop, so had to reset all my 2FA codes.
Switched to Ente thereafter and can’t complain about it.
Mifrated from Google authenticator to authy and it’s been a seamless experience, I did it back in the days when google authenticator did not sync accounts, so everytime I got a new phone I had to migrate them manually. Whereas authy always had this feature
I have been using stratum on Android for a very long time now. no issues.
