Asus RT n16 and 24 online

Hi everyone..

Im planning to buy the azus tr n16 router and use it for independent bittorrent downloading.

With the inbuilt bittorrent and USb ports this is all pretty simple. but the problies with my ISP login.

MY ISP is wimax type, providing internet over wifi, and uses cyberoam 24online system.

i tried the PPPoE on my belkin surf, but it was not succesfull.

i i always have to login via web browser and keep it mininmized.

can anyone suggest anything which will allow the web browser to run inside the router/pendire it self ?

If I understand you correctly,

you dont have a typical adsl broadband connection, instead you get the internet service throug wi-fi (like tikona).

In this case, you can program your RT-N16 with tomato firmware and configure it to act as a wireless-client,

this way all your wired network devices can get access to internet through your tomato router.

You can also keep this router ON for 24/7, and use its “transmission” torrent downloader @ <10W power.

Please be aware this is not a simple buy and use case - you need good understanding of routers, alternate firmwares, recovery proceedure..etc.

Firstly i dont want to use this as a client. its there already with a better antenna.

I just want to figure out a way to login without a pc.

i did read about the firmware stuff.. but trying to avoid that road..

There is a python script to handle the login part.

Where does it get installed / runs from ?

yes there is a working python code for it … i used it for sometime after which my ISP changed to a better login system

I did gave to revo_007 if he does not have it I can dig it out.

It will be part of crontab in ddwrt

so let me get this right,

if i get the n16 router and flash ddwrt on it, and using the script it can self login ?

Can anyone please tell me what stuff i should buy in order to make this router into a download rig ( not 24x7 )

all you need is RT-N16+USB storage

My question is, If all torrent site convert themselves into Magnet Link sites (as I read everywhere TPB will convert Magnet Link after 29th Feb), then this kind of D/L system work ?

Sorry for the OT, but if you look other way it is not OT.

After using tomato builds, I switched all my router firmware to tomato.

For RT-N16, tomato shibby builds are awsome.

My RT-N16 is powered with this build.

@ RT N16 Owners,

Do you guys use it as a 24x7 download server ? How does it go ? doest it require cooling solutions/ moding ?
