Hello,

to all of you.

I have Asus Zenfone5z, somedays ago it stopped running and then restarts multiple times, after that it stopped completely but still charge, I took it to Local Mobile Shop, there the technician told that some Power Supply issue and did some repair after that When I start I got a message that enter Android Password, every time when I enter I got wrong password message but after sometime I got a message that Android is Starting and then a message that “DECRYTPION UNSUCCESSFUL” appeared, the technician told that he didn’t do anything with Software so that’s not his fault, Now, I am completely in dark what to do now? I have very much important data that I cant lose, Please advice, Should I go to some Data Recovery Services like Stellar etc.? Hope to see a reply soon. I am attaching a Screenshot of the Screen. Thank You.

What option does Safe Mode gives you?

The internal storage in Android is encrypted by default. You phone PIN/Password is needed for decryption on boot up. For some reason that is no longer working. Could be file system corruption or part of the key relies on some hardware ID that changed during the repair? I’m only speculating. I don’t know how it is implemented in Android.

I don’t think data recovery is possible in this case. SD card is not encrypted by default. You should be able to copy that data through another device without any issues.

Were you running a custom recovery like TWRP with a custom ROM?

Maybe there’s some separate hardware for encryption, and it got defective when repair guy opened up the phone..

Looks like someone turned on disk level encryption , it should get resolved by factory reset.

Check it with mobile shops they might help you to recover the data using softwares otherwise format ll be the option.

I think more than Power IC is replaced. Additional hardware that does the encryption/decryption was also replaced causing this issue or probably NAND chip got some connection issue while heating the MB.

Try-

  1. Enquire about the components replaced by your repair shop and resholder the old components back and test.
  2. Reballing the NAND chip.
