Best Phone for Pokemon go

Continuing the discussion from About the Smartphone Buying Advice category:

I am currently using Motorola g45. It has 8gb ram.,I would have been fine with it had I not been playing Pokémon go. I Multitask playing pgo with YouTube music, calcyiv, WhatsApp. This seems to take a toll on my phone and my Pokémon go app slowly comes to a crawl and either it crashes or I have to reststart it because it becomes unplayable. I don’t mind the battery life as I carry a power bank.

So, I’m on the search for another phone. I made a mistake in buying a cheap 12k phone when I knew I was going to play a resource hungry game like Pokémon go and multi task.

So, I will be buying a refurbished midranger on emi. I have come down to 3 choices.

  1. Oneplus 13R 12GB 256gb
  2. Oneplus Nord 4 12 GB RAM
  3. Google pixel 9a
  4. Buy the new Oneplus Nord 5 with 12GB RAM

should I go with the 3 refurbs or buy the new nord 5?

Please advise with reasons. Please remember this is for multi tasking with playing Pokémon go. playing Pokémon go involves sometimes going outside in warm environments.

I can afford 24 monthly emis not one lumpsum payment so will buy it from a popular refurb website that offers emi.

For the nord 5 I will have to borrow my brother’s credit card which I don’t want to do but will only do if there is a great reason to do.

The 8 GB ram is not the problem. 8 GB is enough to multitask, play Pokemon Go, Youtube etc
You just need a better processor.

You don’t really need to go with these phones, as it looks like you will be stretching yourself a lot
If you are okay with Vivo’s UI
You can get this Vivo T3 Pro for 20k with any of these debit/credit card HDFC, SBI, Axis
https://www.flipkart.com/vivo-t3-pro-5g-sandstone-orange-128-gb/

In the similar range, you can get Poco X7 Pro as well, it has an even better processor. It’s available for 24K right now, should go down during the sale

Since you need it for gaming and multitasking, I would suggest to go for the Poco, but right now it’s costlier, so just wait 2-3 days for the sale and see

Among these, easily Nord 5. It has the fastest processor 8s gen3 from the list. Plus it is a new phone and not a refurb.

If you plan to order, text me I’ll hook you up with a code to get Nord Buds 2r free with the phone. Use icici card and you will save 2k there as well.

you should’ve bought the Poco F7 when it was on sale, 12 month no cost emi was available

By the way what level are you? I’m 37.

I forgot to add I’ll be getting it via bajaj Finserv emi.

Due to some reasons, bajaj doesn’t let me order it online. I have to get the phone via physical store.

So, I’ll either get a new or refurb phone via physical store as bajaj Finserv is my only finance option right now.

It sucks,I know.

I don’t like the vivo ui. I would prefer as much pure android ui as possible. Hence oneplus, pixel.

Bajaj finserv charges interest like a shark. I would suggest to see for other credit card option for emi.

I don’t have a credit card. That’s the problem.

I had a an amazon icici credit card. For reasons beyond my control that card was cancelled. And it wasn’t due to non payment of fees. It was due to not using it for a period of time and not asking for reissue when it expired. Why I didn’t is a long story.

Anyway, back to the main topic. What’s the phone you would recommend?

Bro, I would say just avoid Bajaj
Rather ask your brother or someone else for a card and save yourself the trouble

There was another post about the phone being non functional after the app their emi app was removed improperly.

Ok.

I’m not getting the phone from a bajaj store. It’s cashify.

So, which phone that I’ve mentioned above or any one else with clean ui you would recommend?

Among these 13R has the fastest processor, about 30-50% faster than nord 5.

13R is definitely the best choice among these but it is also more expensive, also while 8gb should be fine for multitasking you should definitely go for 12gb ram just to be sure.

But given your usage you can go for something cheaper like Poco X7 pro, Realme P3 ultra or Nord CE5. All of these should offer enough performance and decent battery life.

Oh yeah, you are correct. I was thinking 8s gen 3 is better than 8 gen 3 but it’s the other way around.

I’m curious about emi’s, say you buy a 30k phone on 24 months emi from bajaj finance, how much would you end up paying after 24 months, whats their interest rate?

Interest and charges included I’m guessing around 36-37k

Buy anything but not pixel devices. They aren’t meant for gaming. I would suggest you to get the 13R it’s more VFM right now.

13R is what I’ve been leaning towards as a refurb phone. I can get a 12 gb RAM one for around 25K

Go for it. 25k is VFM but check for the wears and tears. It got 8 gen 3 which will be enough for you for atleast 4 years and Oneplus after their Green Policy, it got lenient towards its customers.

It is supposed to be in superb condition which means no scratches and battery life is supposed to be good.

I bought an iPad m2 air 13” refurb from cashify in “superb” condition and so far no complaints knock on wood

if you getting it from cashify, afaik they give their own charger instead of the original one. So, I will recommend you getting a stock one as cashify charger can mess with the battery.
