Wife was trying to shop for few stuff on flipkart and discovered this flaw.
If a single item is added to cart the price stays as mentioned + delivery charges as applicable.
If one more some another brands xyz item added to the cart, the price of first item changes considerably higher than mrp+delivery charges+ Extra
If third item added to the cart, the pricing of first two item changes for something extra while waving of delivery fees.
Want to know what does flipkart charges this Extra Hiidden Commission for?
Here are the links to try for yourself + screen shots:
The first one doesnāt show the name of the seller. Maybe it chooses seller based on location once the items are added to the cart. Anyhow, Iāve too seen these āchindiā tactics by Flipkart before where price changes when you open the product page, while it is shown lesser in the search. They must be hoping that we go ahead with the purchase without noticing the change in price.
Amazon does stuff that has the same effect. You purchase item X, its price is Rs 200 (smallprint says if you buy it within 15 min). Then you browse for 20 more minutes, because there are a lot of very similar items, with very different prices, so it takes time to compare. Add 2 more items in 20 minutes. By now, the item X has the price 300 - now it is no more a good deal at Rs 300
Isnāt it b*shit? The coupon only gives 100 bucks off that too on price increase justifying no logic.
Eg: On product page it shows 100 rs + 40 delivery charges = 140 buck final price.
But while checking out it shows 150 rs + 40 delivery charges minus b*shit discount of 15 rs. = 175 buck final price. WTF?
So where is the discount here?
It works, therefore they do it. All websites these days indulge in user-hostile behaviour. It is generally said that if the service is free, you are the product. However, in this case, these websites are double dipping by charging commission from the seller, and charging the user for miscellaneous things.
Of course, the small print inside their ToS rubbish generally helps them evade any punishment for wrong-doing, or they just pass it off as āan honest mistakeā.
when itās MRP without discount, the price is incl of GST. When a discount is applied, they add GST. I faced this in Brand Factory some years back. Left the products on the counter and walked out.
Have encountered this a lot on Flipkart. You will always find the item at a lower price without logging in. After login, based on your pincode, the price changes. In case of Mumbai, it is always higher. Canāt do anything about it as the checkout process is meant for validation prior to payment.
Thatās true of nearly all Reliance platforms. On Reliance Digital as well, some items are priced really low that other retailers but then the item is not shipped to not only your own pincode but to pincodes in all major cities/towns. Croma does the same with out of stock items. It is just search optimization.
Check the timer just after you add the product. It should show a countdown. The price will increase after that countdown timer expires. When that happens just remove it and add again.
