Bluetooth remote control for PC?

we already know how to Use Infrared remote controls.

But it has some disadvantages

  1. We have to make Receiver

  2. Recever & remote should be in same line

  3. Lots of configrations required

What id we could use a Bluetooth enabled Mobile phone?

Advantages

  1. No need to make anything

  2. Larger distance & no need to pointing mobile in direction PC

I am looking at How to turn a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone into full fledged PC remote.

Please guide on setting this up on Windows XP and Linux(if possible)

Mobile available:

Nokia 6085

LG KG195

dunno bout LG or nokia but in SE it is very straight forward.

I have installed toshiba bluetooth stack on my lappy which supports BT remote control. I just add my lappy as a paired devide with my K750i, start remote control and voila! :face_with_tongue:

SE has even provided some software of its own where you can customise the keys on the phone to perform two-three key combos. you can then transfer the file thru BT to your phone, even make a skin for the remote control :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I even earned brownie points during my training, we had a presentation to give, I took my lappy and used mobile to control powerpoint :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: they were damn impressed! :joy:

There is one application “Bluetooth Remote Control” , does the job very well. Dunno if it supports these phones. Google it !

look in guides.. i had posted a guide for that a yr back or something..

there are some nea softwares like salling clicker that you can use

Great tip to helps impress the non-techie types (read managers) :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

use ‘Bluetooth Remote Control’ it’s a very nice app with many options. I use it to control media player while writing assignments for college :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: . It can be integrated with many apps like vlc, winamp, explorere and power point ofcourse .

A friend of mine who works at a large DB company always does that. Flipping through slides with his candybar SE phone (k750i or something). I believe SE ships with software to control the mouse via bluetooth already.

Linux has plenty of packages, atleast for media players
