Hi All,
I had my nas running on a B450 board (MSI Carbon Gaming pro wifi) and while looking to upgrade my CPU cooler, I broke my motherboard in the stupidest way. I kinda scratched the back of CPU socket with a paper knife as highlighted in attached picture and now my cpu isnt detected. motherboard seems to be poweing ok and CPU led is on and I am pretty sure I broke one of the cpu pins.
I have already ordered a replacement motherboard and wondering if what you guys will do with the board in similar situaltion. my first instinct is to just throw in the IT recycle bin in my office but wondering if there could be any potential use cases for this. for me or for someone else.
Looks like a minor repair can salvage this.
Sell it to someone who can get it fixed and salvage it.
Else get it repaired and use it. Should cost approx 500 and a good technician can restore the track easily.
Thanks. if anyone wants to try fixing, I’d be more than happy to send it over. I guess TE is the place to check if anyone feels like trying :).
P.S. Happy to give it to someone if they feel like fixing it (and have some skill in doing so). just arrange for a pickup and feel free to fix and use it yourself. If you decide to fix and sell, then we can do a split. also, no cost to you obviously (except pickup cost) if you get it but cant fix it.
After a lot of hiccup from courier partners the mobo was finally picked up today.
