TOTAL : Rs. 60600/

These are all approximate prices , u may get them cheaper also ! You can Cut on the cabinet part if Budget is the Problem ! But u need a Good Cabinet for that Daul Core Processor ! Everything in this Rig Except the Graphic card will go strong for another 4 years ! There is also an option of buying a single core amd 3200+ and a 7600gt instead of the daul core and 6600gt , will save u money But in the long run it will give u problems !

My suggestion go for the daul core now and buy a better graphic card after 10 months !

^^what so called “problems” will a single core processor give ? please enlighten us.

games at present are not optimised for dual core anyways .. and an overclocked single core processor such as the amd 3000+ is all also pretty decent for gaming.

@sinist3r

since its a gaming rig ..no use spending more on a processor and buying a outdated gpu .. geta better gpu instead. i myself am using a 3000+ and an x1800xt and another person chaos is also using a x1900xtx + 3000+.

^Well Dude The Guy wants to use this comp for another 5 Years ! So I dont Think it will be right to Buy a 3000+ now ! Agreed the games at present do not use Dual cores but in future lets say another 1 year… they will ! And well according to his Budget he could easily afford a Daul-core so why not go for it ? Also In That Budget he wont be able to buy a High end GPU , so going for a low-med end GPU at the Time when DX 10 Cards r about to be releaed is not right ! So Yeah My suggestion go for the Daul-core and get a better GPU after 6 months ! And by problems I mean the Long-Run ! This Guy wont be upgrading in the next 5 yrs ! so If I were Him I would have certainly gone for the Daul-core ! Different People , Different Opinions !

well in 5 years even a dual core will be outdated with quad cores coming up.. and regarding DX 10 ..looking at the way vista is getting delayed time n again .. i dont suggest waiting .. better to njoy the gaming experice now with a good card and that too when u have a good budget…

see according to the config u suggested,

opty 165 - 17k

6600gt - 8k (7k sounds too good a deal actually so lets make it 8k)

total = 25k

what i suggest is,

3000+ = 5.5k (obviously OC it)

and he has around 19.5k left for a gpu. which is very good.

@sinist3r

No pc purchased now will last u for 5 years .. and “last” meaning perform well after 5 years .. not that it will self decay or something :face_with_tongue:

anyways u have a good budget for a high end gpu as i suggested above and i adivce u to be on the lookout for good deals on TE or elsewhere .. u may post in the market section and u will probably get a very good deal. try ur luck.

Please dont invest a single rupee in a 6600gt now .. it really cant handle all the newer games coming these days.

if u want to save further cash and make the pc in ur budget of 55k strictly then opt for a 7600GT which is avail for 12.5k .. this will save another 6-7k for u and ur pc will be in ur budget and will perform decently in new games as well.

If you want dual core and are willing to overclock then i strongly suggest that you go for intel D 805. Else stick with AMD 3000 or 3200. Getting a dual core amd for 16.5 k and buying a low end( by today’s std.) gfx card is not a good idea if you wanna play games!!! Even a dual core will get obsolete in 5 yrs. Intel has plans to produce cpu’s with 12 cores in around 3 -4 yrs time( approx.)So after 5 yr. only god knows what to expect.
I don’t think you need to spend 5.8 k on a cabinet or get a 240 gb hard drive if all you wanna do is play games. Get an 80gb hard drive and any other cheap cabinet. Get a good PSU though! 480 watts should do!(plz someone correct me if i am wrong!)
And spend the extra money buying either a 7600gt or if possible a 7900gt for 21-23k(approx).That will be good for gaming.
Also i would certainly suggest that you go for 2 gb RAM( if you wanna install vista on your pc) if you want your comp. to last that long.
If you want a comp. to play games then gfx card is more imp. than CPU.

Yes a PC can be made to last for 5 yrs.and will be good enough to run most apps. However whatever config. you buy now will be obsolete to play games that come 5 yrs.( or even 3 yrs.) down the line. I have a 7 yr. old Pc with P3 and onborad graphics and 128 mb ram that can run most apps. available today but can’t play games or record tv ( using a tv tuner) without giving problems or watch hi-def. videos!! Ofcourse i use win2000.

Can this thread be made a sticky in the purchase recomendation section??
