Build for Proxmox and TrueNAS

I would like a second opinion for the following components before I commit:

  1. Intel Core i5-14500

  2. AsRock B760M Steel Legend WiFi

  3. Ripjaws S5 (CL30-6000) 16x2 Kit

  4. Crucial P5 Plus 1T

  5. WD Red SMR 4 HDD

  6. Corsair SF 600W 80+ Gold

I have yet to find a simple mATX case that can house atleast 4 3.5" HDD internally. Cases listed [here](’

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/case/#t=6&D=16,4,8,2&J=4,20&B=1

) are not available in India. I have a spare 24U rack lying around, hence I won’t mind a rackmount chassis either. (If someone knows a reliable pawn shop in Nehru Place that deals in cases, please let me know)

The intended use of this system is as a hypervisor (Proxmox) and NAS (TrueNAS, transcoding Plex) for homelab purposes.

A simple pcpricetracker.in analysis ballparks my budget to be Rs. 72k. I wanted my build to be as dicrete as possible however, by swapping out MSI MPG B760I Edge WiFi mITX motherboard, I saved around 8.5k at the same time I lost some cool hot-swappable mITX cases such as [SuperMicro SuperChassis 721TQ-350B](’

SC721TQ-350B | Compact Mini-Tower | Chassis | Products | Supermicro

) and [Chenbro SR301](’

Chenbro - Products

) The quotation for SM chassis was alone a whopping Rs. 23k. :open_mouth:

As I’m not well-versed in the Xeon lineup, I’m curious if there is an opportunity to convert the setup into an industrial-grade build using brands like SuperMicro or Asus Rack, for that sweet ECC support. My aim is to achieve a comparable price-performance ratio and idle TDP while making this transformation.

Have you already looked at [Fractal Node 804](’

) case?

Interestingly, Node 304 is [currently priced 8k](’

) which only takes mITX motherboard while Node 804 is 11k. If I opt for an mITX build, it appears that I will incur a net additional cost of 5k. Also, Node 804 is demonstrator, which I donot like at all.
