buying Graphics card for my MSI P35 platinum

I am using MSI P35 Platinum Mobo that only have PCI-Ex16 v1.1(max 8GB/s). Can anyone help to advise whether my Mobo can utilize Radeon HD 5870 at its full performance. I want to buy it but afraid if my pci-e dont have enough bandwidth to support HD5870. In the end, i cannot maxed out the 5870 performance i’m afraid.

Thanks in advance…

Re: Please help me in buying Graphics card for my MSI P35 platinum

Processor? powersupply? The card will work fine on that pcie x16 slot and utilised properly. To make things even more better: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/radeon-hd5870-cpu-scaling_10.html#sect0

but as requested… please provide a complete configuration to seek better advice.

(although your question is already answered  )

i had msi p35 platinum combo and 5870 config… there was no problems… get a good psu…

Thanks everyone with your advices, now i’m ready to upgrade my rig :)…anyway my PC specs are:

Intel Q6600 2.4GHz @ 3.0GHz
MSI P35 Platinum
Enermax 460W True power PSU - will upgrade as advised
Corsair 4GB DDR2 1066MHz
Cooler Master C690 Casing Unit
Asus Geforce 8800GT 512MB

Thank you..

^^

You can put in a HD5870, it should work just fine on the setup. Though regarding the PSU, let some experts suggest / recommend how good Enermax is, as a PSU brand. Though 460W is enough to power that system. But let others provide feedback about Enermax.

always put better smps.. later u wil repnt.. go for 500w above.. 9 series cards need 450w - 500w smps.. Cooler master is very good 500w u wil get for around 3.2 k sp road bangalore. Talking bout cards check the core speed.. 9800gt core speed is less than 9600gt (zotac) my fren recently bought 9600gt 1gb ddr3 6k (wit vat)

buy zebrionics cabin.. tey r rreally very good dt shell out money on cooler master cabin.. u can use tat money for upgrading ram or buy joypads or high end gpu.. as of nw 9 series card wil make all games run very smooth. my 8600gt 256mb ddr3 is capable of many things even nw … So jus chill.. wait for 1 month ram prices wil go down in feb
