So, I have 2 local accounts (one with MS sign-in, one without) and my work needs me to constantly switch between the two making it a pain. Is there any way that I stay logged in to the MS account and access the other user via windowed RDP or something? Currently, I use VMware Workstation with a lite Windows copy but it still uses a lot of resources and creates problems during calls. I’d prefer to do it natively if possible.
If you are login in with other user-id just to use an application, simultaneously press shift key and right-click on the application icon. It will ask for different user option, select other user and authenticate to launch the application.
Is your operation system Window desktop OS (only provides single user access) or server OS ?
I don’t want to use a single app but the whole desktop. I am a freelancer but the company wants to capture screen. I am fine with that as I work with a non-admin local account but it has to be the whole screen which is why I use the VM. I am on Windows 11 desktop OS.
If screen capture is what the company need, you can give them teamviewer, anydesk, parsec, etc. as an option while you are working on desktop.

I’m not sure but similar can be achieved via RDP licenses - if you’re running with proper licenses (assuming you have OS and licenses) - you need to disable single user mode and change the limit for Remote connections

TeamViewer has flagged my account as commercial (no idea why) but I tried RustDesk - it did not work. I’ll check out other options.
Looks like Windows Server allows this but I am using Home…

This needs patching a file and is specific to your Windows version. Here is an updated version -

Quick Assist built into Win11 is a quick option.
This worked, thanks. I could start a remote session to the other session but it had scrollbars and switching to the active user windows was again a bit annoying. I fixed this using RustDesk, allowing me to use my RDP session in scaled windows mode. Problem solved, thanks.

Quick Assist shows a bar and does not support scaled windows. RustDesk solved this.
