Hello,
Can Firmware (PAZR9018) be updated on a Crucial T700 Engineering Sample via Storage Executive?
Just yesterday, I have ordered a Crucial T700 2 TB drive from secondary market seller and the product is in shipping status.
Today, I have noticed the Suffix DVT ( Design Validation Test ) and google searches told me it is an engineering sample and the Drive won’t be able to update its firmware through storage executive program. Can someone from Tech Enclave confirm the firmware update status?
I am able to find DVT drive sale Crucial NVME / SATA SSDs Lot (gen3/4, 1tb/2tb/4tb) - Super Affordable Prices - #13 by TechnologyHell but not able to identify the buyer.
May be @TechnologyHell can shed some light on firmware update status.
I am a bit worried if the drive is stuck in the old firmware. Please suggest
Not a bit worried, you should be very worried & make sure to not use windows 11 24H2 for now.

that’s troubling. Thanks for the link. Will avoid using windows 11 24H2 to test the drive once i receive it.
Now the question is whether the firmware can be updated on this DVT model?
If official tool cannot update firmware then almost no chance of firmware update.
just restore to an older restore point pre update, you ll be fine
No he won’t. Many windows updates especially cumulative updates can’t be uninstalled/removed in this way. Better to avoid windows 11 24H2 altogether if using an engineering sample ssd.
overreaction. The issue isn’t as widespread, the update in question being KB5063878,which can indeed be uninstalled
The issue isn’t as “widespread” because most ppl don’t use engineering sample ssd if the above news article is right. Obviously, ppl abroad have much more access to such ssd compared to here & ppl using such ssd are also among the most active on various tech forums & communities.
Okay calm down guys.
Engineering samples are not that bad, yes they can fail randomly, but that even a retail unit can. Just make sure that the ES drive is not the only point of your storage of important date.
Coming to firmware update, you can’t update it, as no official firmware was ever released for this ES unit.
Windows update killing the drive, it’s pure luck. My PC stats up to date on each and every patch, running flawless (except for my ryzen 9 running idle at 60 and jumping to 85 randomly)
