Can I trust modapk strava data?

I want to track my regular run , trying to lose weight .

Any other free alternate app would help .

I use smartphone only no wearable as of now .

Plan your route well ahead in google map and calculate the distance. Compare it with the data recorded by strava. Do it for a couple of times and see for yourself that how reliable it is and if the deviation is within your tolerance range.

Are you talking about modded / cracked version of strava app ?

I can’t think of why it would not be accurate (if by trust that’s what you mean) because in the end modified apk from such websites are only removing subscription/paid-only restrictions and bloatware from the app, leaving the rest of the contents untouched. Your only fear would be hidden malware that you might download from unverified websites and since this is a grey area I wouldn’t say more.

Also why not go for Strava’s student sub if possible? Surely it wouldn’t be hard if someone can help you, plus its 50% cheaper.

I think there is a revanced patch for strava too.

Not sure for which version but there used to be one

Don’t use modded strava app as it might contain malware to track you and share it with 3rd parties.

If patched with revanced then its totally fine to use it. The news you have shared is from the original strava app. They were able to tracked as they had kept their profile public

Just wanted to add that it is always best practice to patch it by yourself instead of downloading pre patched version

If the required app is in app bundle form, use antisplit m to convert it to apk file

PS: I miss golden days of lucky patcher

Wasnt Strava the same Chinese company which tracked all USA secret bases using the same map as OP ?

and ya once a US company is purchased by a Chinese entity its a Chinese company

nope strava was never sold, its still an american company with american owner and CEO

Strava’s primary investors are US-based venture capital firms, including Sequoia Capital, TCV, Sigma Partners, and Dragoneer Investment Group. Source: Tracxn

I never said that map data was not released. I only corrected you on strava being a american company not chinese company.
The soldiers had kept their profile public that the reason, this data was revealed. Its not like strava released data of only military bases. Its the research firms which co-related the data released with military bases. This was actually the fault of soldiers and the government that they didnt ensure privacy.

If this is the case, then would strongly suggest against using it. If you are having banking apps or personal stuff.

There is no safer way to use a modified application unless you have reverse engineered it yourself be it with a tool you know how or built it yourself.

Privacy concerns are for the normal apps but modified apps can have exploits built in which is a security concern.

I use an old Mi band 6 with my phone for my Couch to 5k runs. Works pretty well for me. It gives me all kinds of metrics but I only care about my avg speed and my heart rate - increasing the former and decreasing the latter.

BTW, I didnt know running is an efficient tool to lose weight but great if it works for ya.
