Can I use an APC 600va UPS?

Guys,

I wanted to replace my ageing APC RC1100 with APC 600VA. The old one’s just got no more juice in it and its hard to find a replacement battery for it. I was wondering would a 600VA suffice for my computer?

Computer spec,
i7 920
Gigabit -GA-EX58 UD5
radeon hd4850

I’m not looking for 20 mins of backup. Just enough time for me to shut down the machine.

Your old UPS uses two 9ah batteries in series I think. The 600VA UPS uses only one battery. I suggest getting the batteries of the old UPS replaced from some battery dealer. They take old batteries and give 50-100 discount per battery when you buy new one from them.

Hmm, I’ve heard this too. Bike and Car battery dealers deals with these batteries too. You think this should work?

It will work. You just need to match the battery capacity and dimensions of battery. Should be sealed battery too.
