COM IT EXPO-photos and first impression on day 1-TE Exclusive

The fastest writer is at it again. I quickly rushed, taken pics, taken down notes, brouchures, enjoyed the ladies’ love :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: till 2.30 pm in the afternoon.
Part-I: Entrance, Registration, logitech, samsung and Microsoft stall

So I entered inside in the middle of seemingly nowhere. Lot of flags and company names. The main companies who really wanted to showcase was asus, intel, samsung and moser baer. But there were certain manufacturing underdogs who gave a good fight (in corporate terms-good display of stuff but who wants to see that word here). I pre-registered in the website but due to some reason, they lost lots of contacts :-s. Silly it might be, that was the fact. But anyways I am a curious George and I didnt care so I went in as a visitor.

The first one on the doorstep was logitech trying to gain the attention. They did, but eventually stole the show by microsoft by…ahem booth babes but the photos for that are coming afterwards. Logitech had lot of stuff but their strategy was bad. People were walking around giving out logitech papers and all they are allowed. They did put up z550 but the guy was a complete hopeless. Logitech should have appointed people who knew something.

I anticipated logitech to show case their good products in a good way, but when you ask about something all they say is “let me get the brochure” and thats it.
I was so fed up that I decided to take the rest of the pictures when i would go out and I did.

Samsung and Microsoft seem to be in Mr. and Mrs. Smith situation at times when it comes to sales, now its marketing. Samsung’s display was cold as a cake and Microsoft wanted to swoop the crowd by using Xbox 360. However, they are the only one in the bunch who put ahem booth babes but then put up a dancing show with shahrukh Khans’ “dil ka mamla hai dilbar†song, but those photos will come in the end of this topic.

Samsung displayed these TVs, pc LCD screens with gloss body bezel and the CRT screens at the back of the display, which is about it. Being loyal on the right hand side is the Microsoft and here are the Xbox’s pictures:

She does really know how to play-I was shocked!!! I waited and then……the girl defeated him. Either he is a noob or she is skilled. She did give some pointer to the other booth babe

Though booths (the Xbox booths) was placed in a good locations, the standard and core packs with the game was not behind. Filled with plethora of games, Xbox is cashing in on playstation’s absence from the expo which is bad for Sony.

Stay tuned for more in an hour’s time with samsung, microsoft, aoc, foxconn mobos and more..
(if admins think this is the wrong place to post this please feel free to move to a different place).

Part II-AOC, Transcend, Foxconn and maxtor

AOC screens gave one of the satisfactory displays. For a screen I never heard of it is a big move. They displayed from 15 inch known as aoc 156 Sa 15 inch screen to AOC 416v 24 inch widescreen. If they turn out as commercial hit, that remains to be seen.

Feature wise, its extremely limited. The bigger screen don’t have speakers but they also don’t have hdmi, its an ordinary screen. aoc has 8ms to 16 ms response time screens, lm 525 has a patethic 16 ms and 19 inch has 2ms response time, others were standard 5 ms. Almost all the lcd panels consumes between 37-42w.

Another turn off was transcend with only a small corner and couple of posters

It’s a Sad case for good line of mp3 player-I expected more in Day 1.
Foxconn has a great display of motherboards and graphic cards lined up for grabs. It was small and did capture a part of Maxtor’s stall but what the heck

This is Maxtor-that’s all they put in day 1-patethic

Part III Shame on Seagate and other short stories:

Do I need to say more???
Yes I do…the worst display by a company on day 1 goes to Seagate followed by Hitachi.

Followed by wipro’s “hardcore gaming computerâ€

The worst was umax-hands down for copying the branded cases-from nzxt to the viper. Every case is a copy and a cheap built piece of garbage. They had a case code named alien which I saw in desktop computers in bandra. I didn’t bother to take the picture of the stall since they were bit rude when I asked the questions about the case ressembling older cases. But here is the pic from the booklet.

But there are other certain things which I liked. Razer showed off with their board tarantula, gaming mouse deathadder, copperhead, mantis speed gaming surface and the sound card from razer. Smile filled my face indeed. The razer people were helpful and knew how to have a conversation to a gamer. Razer booth gets number 1 in my list as an underrated booth section.

Part III- Sandisk sansa clip and shaker mp3 player, ECS and biostar motherboards, Asus (PDA phones), Lg Laptops and the 22 inch lcd screen, TYAN workstation motherboards, Moser Baer-liteon dvd writers and headsets, Microsoft’s dancers, happy birthday Microsoft and writers opinion:

At first, sansa didn’t excite me, but the mp3 players caught my eye.

The hyped sansa shaker and the sansa clip.

According to the reps, the shaker has support only for 512 mb and the clip has support upto 4 GB. Sandisk started to make 1 GB m2 cards for Sony Ericsson at price of Rs 2,888/-. They did give the price list, unfortunately its limited to memory flash cards.

ECS seems to be having the smallest display on day-1. With the 6100 onboard graphics I don’t know if these boards can face even biostar and foxconn. But we seen many things in life that creeps us out in an unexpected way, like when Michael Jackson was sitting next to you AND sharing you popcorns and when I given my neice the jadoo’s doll which my nephew used, next thing I know she screamed like the Drew Barrymore in the movie E.T. when she was young.

LG made a joke in this poster. Moving on it’s the Lg laptop. I concentrated on one laptop which is the r200-the one which you see on the ads with a small screen outside. Well, it was a good idea, but I remember seeing a guy with a screen on the right eye and I want to say one thing-the advertiser is a star trek fan and he is THE BORG (eeek). LG section had bad lightning and for some reason during the lunch time, many lights, electric gadgets started to smell and when I went out, the fire brigade was on standby. It is a serious concern and I hope those devices don’t burn due to……..â€The nazaarâ€.

Anyways for those who want to know, the r200 t7300 c2d, 1gb ddr2 rams, ati mobility radeon x2300 with 128 vram, 160 gb sata, 12.1 inch with and the outer one termed as “auxiliary has 2.5 inch screen. It weighs 1.94 kgs, wifi dual hexaband antenna (which the lg people didn’t know what it was), 5-in1 card reader, 5.1 digital Dolby with trusurround xt, gigabyte LAN, pcmcia card slot and a firewire.

A 22 inch screen was displayed on the lg stand.

The screen is modeled l226wt with 16.7 million colours and brightness of 300 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 5000:1 and 170 degrees viewing angle.

Biostar and sparkle really tried to look good in their budget and I was pretty convinced that they are picking up as a very good budget underdog.

I never heard of them, maybe the big guys around here did:

They make mobos for 1207 opterons and xeons….and boy look at the ram slots. They all have onboard graphics from xgi. It was total off the line but the manager was explaining a reporter. The guy IS technically sound and a pro at it. It Did pull couple of more reporters which was simply amazing.
Moser Baer products:

Here are Moser baer in collaboration with lite-on dvd writers. It seems moser bayer wants a share of a lower end headsets and gave the headset section a shot.

Happy birthday Microsoft!!! And these are the dancer’s pics. Don’t ask me for detailed pics.

Writers’ notes:
This is something should have happened ages ago, but something is better then nothing. If all goes well, our expos and gamelife will be as same as in European standards, pure professional breeds. There was an argument ages ago and certain usual lines that manufacturers used to say “Due to the fact there is not much products we can show in a large scale†I have seen that changing. I remember a forum argument with Abhimanyu of tech2 that hardcore gamers and users are 5% in this country. I told him in a challenging manner “Are you sure you want to bet with that?†and told that his opening line was cheesy. As developing nations, we stepped towards using great machines with great power. And expos like playstation experience, skoar expo and heck even this one shows that we aren’t behind in having the next

E3 in India-our way. This is the biggest 5% I ever seen and I hope to see even bigger. I am done, this topic got a good response even though it was in parts. I really thank mods making this into one and happy gaming to all. My name is Roshan but people call me-The Sorcerer!!

Nice coverage :)…waiting up for 2nd half :)…seems u were hesitating to take pics of the booth babes…cmon booth bates r for that :face_with_tongue:

Umax says - Not all gamers are hooked onto gaming! wtf they want to say!!!

And isn’t their ‘samurai’ model (shown in ad) a blatant copy of the alienware case…haha (tho i love that case)

@ rpok: what umax is trying to say is

Not all gamers are hooked to gaming! Some gamers are used as target practice. Be own3d-use umax…which takes a u turn on the word-max
