I am planning to go for RHCE. Current exams are based on RHEL 5 and RHEL 6 beta is already out. I read some where that approximately within 6 months RHEL 6 will be out. What will happen with certification if I do it now. Do I need to upgrade that. Please help..
It took them 3 years to get the first beta out do you think it will be that easy for them to release the final version ?
Apart from that whether its RHEL 5,6 or even 4 . the basics remains the same, if you got the basics under the hood theres nothing stopping you to get the facts right later on
what if we didn’t clear the exam, do you get additional attempts?
The reason I am thinking doing RHCE, is getting proof of my current Linux knowledge. also, I think it would also look nice on resume. else, I have no interested in System Administration field.
The coming versions will comeup with better kernel to increase performance, but no change in functionality, infact linux server environment is all about a vanilla production environment with more emphasis on performance and security, so you need not afraid.
You can sit for exam without training, ie., training is optional.
You can study and sit for exam directly.
Its best to attend exam preparation course (around 6 hours) which may cost around 2.5K to 3K.
You can have multiple attempts as far as I can understand, but will have to pay everytime. For Ist attempt its around 10K to 12.5K in Mumbai, next attempt with be with a discount. For further attempt will again be costlier - this is what I have understood recently, please verify from some institute.
Yes Training is optional, its not the pre-requisite for RHCE
NOO, its “RHCE” nad not CCNA or MCSE where u can clear the xams buy
studying dumbs, its all practicals. If someone attends the RHCE xams
without proper training then he is either highly scholar or highly fool or
highly rich(to waste excessive money)
Preparation depends on the person and the training he got, can range from
15 days to 6 months
Dont even think about failing in the exams coz right now there is no ek- pe-ek free offer (never was )
After RHCE you wont necessarily become a “System Admin” you will just have command over the best OS available.
So go for it, take some good training and prepare hard
