Copy pasted topics should have a separate category

you need to read this entire thread.
they already offered you solutions.

I hope to see you here but with your own content. You are very helpful to a lot of members.

Yes I am always online.
I read from the 1st post onwards.

If people don’t want new news either tech or non tech or discuss about health issues it’s okay for me.

I will not post articles again okay.

Why bring trouble to the forum and its members so I will stop posting unless very necessary.

Are there any rewards like physical gifts or merch of some sort if you get selected for member of the month? This new point system and the new ui is way too much for me to tackle. I just post randomly where i find suitable, never thinking about this reward points. What are they even for?

You are using it right. Don’t worry about it.

These badges and awards are coincidental to the use of the website, not the reason to use it.

Damn I’m on second position, I never knew. I never check the cheers. I guess I’m sending more time here than I shouldšŸ˜…

This is why I hate the ā€œcheersā€ system, it rewards ANYTHING, even if it’s BS. You post any random crap, you get points.

On Xen, members stood out based on their post-to-like ratio.

In August, the leaderboard led with 1.5K cheers. Most of them came from copy-paste farming. 2nd place stood at 300-something lol. I rest my case.

even I noticed for the first time. I was in the list too.

Khud ko List mein dekh ke acha lega. ( happy to see myself in that list )

Yes, AFAIK. I could be wrong, though.

You get love…People’s love. Wohi kafi hai.

My post-to-like ratio was very high (I think one of the highest 5:1), it gave that purple highlight to the ranking and I liked it, and missed it a lot when we changed to Discourse. But then I remembered it is just a number and a colour and I actually like talking to like-minded people more and shouldn’t attribute much value to extras and decorations.

I only access TE on mobile and I can’t even see the cheers board. If this is the driving force, then should probably scrap that thing or not offer cheers for news posts (like marketplace) or change the ranking based on likes or something.

I had created a css script to remove it from my home page.

Most people dont even knew if they are in the list or not. They just go about doing their own thing.
It may be driving force for only few. Just for that few you can’t scrap something that is a nice way to appreciate a member’s contribution.

Btw it is people’s choice. When other members cheers only then the person tops the list.
So it is members choice in the end .

I can only hope Mods take notice of all of this feedback and work to improve the usability and add ways to reward quality over quantity. When I had questioned that earlier, I was expressly told quantity over quality.

But then the focus of TE has already shifted from content let alone quality content (that appears to have disappeared post the migration). I don’t expect things to improve.

Ignoring ppl who make such post doesn’t help :frowning: still shows up in the feed

This is the problem. Topics created get 5 cheers, hence the farming with copy-paste content to rack up cheers easily. This should be reduced to 2, or even 1.

That is the problem with the cheers system. The member does jack shit. Cheers are auto-awarded on posts/thread creation (that make up the bulk of ā€œcheersā€ points), whether good or garbage. Members don’t choose who gets on the list based on merit.

On Xen, people like @bakasur and @napsterlabs (who also won the valued voice award) stood out with purple tags, due to quality posts that were highlighted based on likes and real contributions in just a few years of being on the forum. Whereas many others, part of the forum for 15+ years, only had a post count to show for it. No real quality contributions.

Another trend I noticed, as of late, is the need to upgrade their GPU. Even though the question was answered by multiple members in one thread, the EXACT same question was randomly asked in other people’s threads, multiple times.

I didn’t realize that creating topic was giving 5 cheers and each post gave 2 cheers. That is the cause of the problem.

I took a loan and bought a GPU and that is why I asked whether to go with used or buy a new GPU.

I don’t even know for each post how many cheers are given until somebody else posted in this thread.

Digit lost its glory because it didn’t have the glorified market system that erodov had and all members of erodov joined here after its demise.

I was the member of Tech tree and then Digit then TE then Erodov.

Erodov failed because of its glorified market system and no new content either posted or discussed.

All the old members of TE and Digit still get in touch time to time.

Even now I ordered the GPU and cabinet + cooler from former members of TE, one from Chennai and other from Mumbai.

Don’t forget the great Raabo of Digit.

I got this obsession with tech just because of Digit, Chip and Skoar magazines since the year 2000.

If you see Chip.de or Videokarz sites you will notice all articles are taken from other sites as they provide sources below the respective article.

I was posting just to inform my TE members of the latest info of everything Tech and not to increase my post count.

I am 47 years old and I already lost interest in gaming somewhat.

My life has been on a rollercoaster since everybody knows about it.

And I find peace when I am browsing Digit and TE and posting or asking questions.

If my threads or postings have become intrusive then so be it.

I WILL NOT POST AGAIN.
