Corsair CX430 V2 reviewed and it's Impressive!!

Corsair’s new Builder CX430 V2 powersupply really impressed me. At first, when I saw that Corsair rated it for full power only at 30°C, I was troubled and thought that my 50°C hot box would really give it a hard time. However I was dead wrong, the PSU not only worked at over 50°C ambient but performed really well, especially if we take into account that it belongs to the low end category. Voltage regulation was close to 2% for +12V & 5V and 3.3V exceeded 3% only by very little. I have seen much more expensive PSUs with way worse voltage regulation, especially at 3.3V. On top of that efficiency was decent overall and high enough at loads below 90W; ripple/noise suppression was excellent, too. Even in the very tough Advanced Transient Response tests the PSU managed its +12V and +5V rails very well. The bad performance of 3.3V in the same tests couldn’t spoil the excellent impression this unit had already made.

For users on a limited budget and for office or download PCs this PSU is ideal. Its price, taking into account the performance levels it offers, is a steal. On top of that it comes with fully sleeved cables and is backed by a three year warranty. If only it had two PCIe connectors and two more peripheral ones. Especially the single 6+2 pin PCIe connector looks odd and significantly restricts the usability of the unit.

The Corsair CX430 V2 proved to be an outstanding product, possibly the power supply with the best cost/benefit ratio we’ve ever seen. Costing only USD 45 (USD 35 after sending a mail-in rebate card), it provides efficiency between 81.2% and 85.4%, which is comparable to several 80 Plus Bronze units we’ve reviewed. It also has a very good voltage regulation and ultra-low noise and ripple levels. The cable configuration is compatible with an entry-level 430 W unit, and users that need more cables will have to buy a different product.

The only differences between the CX430 V2 and the original CX430 are the active PFC transistors and the +12 V rectifiers, which were upgraded. These changes improved efficiency considerably. (The original CX430 presented efficiency between 79.4% and 84.1%.)
It is impossible to not get excited with a product that is inexpensive and provides the same performance level of more expensive units.
