We’re supposed to have a CS 1.6 tourney this week, and now our sysadmins say that Vista will be rammed down our throats
any issues running steam/ hosting a server/ playing CS on vista ?
any way to turn of mouse acceleration in vista
Please reply ASAP, and TIA
In fact CS1.6 used to crash on my XP some time back but ran flawlessly on vista. So no issues there.
No idea about mouse acceleration. I keep it enabled on both OS.

cpl mousefix does work on vista, but it gets reset after you restart your pc.
otherwise I have seen no issues

mousefix DOES WORK!!!
i just installed yesterday so if i find sumthing for vista then ill tell u…gonna google it in 5min
other than that cs runs fine if u have a decent gpu
EDIT::
after extensive testing(10min ) i got there results
with cpl mousefix and noforce commands in cs (-noforcemparms etc etc) there is no mouse accel. in vista ultimate 32bit
i did find a program for removing acceleration but when i installed that, i got negative acceleration as it was already zero..(this means that faster u move the mouse, less it actually moves on screen)
if you want that software, here is the link
all tests conducted on qck+ and mx518

No problems playing cs1.6 or source on Vista. Disabling enchance pointer precision will disable acceleration. (CTRL panel->mouse options).
Never had any problems with FPS. Averaging 80-100 fps @ 1440*900 with settings high on a 8600GT.

thanks to everyone who replied.
lol they ran out of systems so they’ll be giving us 7 systems and 2 laptops.
My manager is gonna throw a fit when he sees me with a laptop:rofl: ( laptops are for managers and onsite folks only )

tell the teams to bring their own mice and headsets…atleast thats what we did in our college
headsets maybe , but mice , no. We’re not allowed to bring our own hardware to the office- STPI rules
I have organized a lot of fragfests , dont worry just our first time with vista
