I have spoken about Earphone harming hearing at a level that you could lose your hearing sooner in life than later( Old age) . I have suffered a lot from this hearing issue and by grace of God manage to come out of it.
I still love music and still use ear phones but very limited and Over the earphone mostly.
But there are other problems than just hearing loss . People tend to loose awareness to their surrounding in very dangerous way.
Just check this video. This women was gone case.
So please be aware of your enviornment. Presence of mind is very important anywhere. Sitting in train or a plane and listening to music is one thing. But walking on the road, crossing roads, traffic, railwaystaions…just switch off the ANC for a moment. I think most Ear phones allow ANC to be switch on easily through app or one touch.
Hope this Helps in creating the awareness. Share with your friends and loved ones too this video. You may be be saving life with this little effort..
I did have a real-time experience, but I was the guy who crashed into the guy. Luckily, nothing happened to any of us. The guy crossing the road had earphones plugged in (possibly at high volume) and showed no awareness. I honked all the way till I crashed into him, and he didn’t even react.
I have tried both Sony 1000XM5 and AirPods with noise cancellation, and can’t wear them for more than 5 mins without feeling like I’m travelling through ghat roads. Very uncomfortable!
Even I hate the wierd sensation that noise cancellation headphone create in the head.
Basically noise cancellation works on the principles of destructive superposition, and that really distorts the ambient sound coming in to ears helping the brain construct a situational awareness.
I think the only use case for me to use ANC is in the gym because the speakers blare the music so loud you can feel it in your skin.
Besides that I barely use my earphones.
Arey bhai….any headphones with extensive use can cause ear problems.
We have a long discussion about this
As for this particular topic is for other issues other than hearing loss. It is about situational awareness caused by headphones/earphones that can lead to be killed or hurt.
What a hero that train worker is. See how fast he caught her. More like grabbed.
Definitely. Being distracted for any reason is dangerous.
I use to walk around listening to stuff but the ambient noise is so loud that even noise cancelling can only do so much. You then increase volume. Anything over 50% isn’t good for extended periods
