Dealing with surround sound in Windows

Hey everyone, I recently got logitech z906 5.1 speakers and after setting everything up, I went around to test the thing out, connected it to my windows PC via a usb to 5.1 analog adapter, got the drivers but I genuinely couldn’t find a single media on the internet with 5.1, after digging through dolby archives, found a very old demo video, that’s it. Still, i thought, its fine lets watch an actual movie, fired up prime to watch Top Gun Maverick but surprize surprize there is no sound output from the rear and center channels. I have configured windows sound output to 5.1 and tested them, I tried installing the prime windows app, still nothing.

I have almost all the streaming sites but still cannot enjoy a movie in 1080p surround sound, makes me wanna go back to sailing the high seas. How do you handle this craphole?

Prime video doesn’t support surround sound on Windows. I think Netflix does. Honestly, Windows is bad for OTT apps. Better buy a firestick 4K for around 3K for a good experience with video streaming apps.

I would do that but there’s the issue of drivers for this usb to 5.1 analog adapter, I’ve got no idea how I’m gonna connect my speakers to the firestick

Any model number or photo?

Does your PC have digital optical output S/PDIF ?

You’ll need something like this. HDMI Audio Extractor.
