DeepSeek's Emergence and Its Impact on ChatGPT

DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence startup, has recently gained significant attention for developing a cost-effective AI model that rivals existing language models like ChatGPT. This development has implications for the AI industry, particularly concerning ChatGPT.

Cost-Effective Development

DeepSeek’s AI model was developed at a fraction of the cost typically associated with models like ChatGPT. This cost efficiency has the potential to disrupt the AI market by making advanced language models more accessible and affordable.

Regulatory Scrutiny

DeepSeek is currently under investigation by OpenAI for allegedly using ChatGPT’s outputs to train its models through a process known as “distillation.” This method involves extracting information by querying a model like ChatGPT and using the responses to train another AI. If substantiated, these allegations could lead to legal challenges and influence industry practices regarding AI model training.

DeepSeek’s open-source approach and cost efficiency are definitely game-changers. Still, if the distillation allegations hold up, it could set a precedent for AI model training ethics—I am curious to see how this plays out!

I feel that various new models will continue to outperform GPT4, but really, after the hype wave, do people continue to use them? That’s the question.

I remember using Deepseek a few times, but its strong pro-CCP tone always put me off.

No, its the opposite in my case. I use DeepSeek more frequently than GPT. I feel like it outperforms GPT. Yes, I do agree it has a bias towards CCP but still it works for me. The only AI I have been using more frequently are DeepSeek and Perplexity.

Right, Better to use multiple AI tools as per Usecase. I use Deepseek, Chat GPT, Gemini, Gamma Ai, Perplexity, Mid journey, Claude, Cursor all these tools as per use case. It good to know their potential and use them accordingly instead of just blaming about their BIASED behaviour..

All the new chinese models like deepseek, kimi k2, qwen3 are giving the american models a run for their money. They’re achieving similar quality at lesser expense

Claude4 is no longer “the” model for coding.

I think Claude is still the model for coding
