Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series - a few questions and how to

Hi guys,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series which works alright sometimes. But I’ve been trying to fix some of its issues for a long time but got nowhere until now. Any help in this regard is much appreciated.

  1. The display is almost useless, so I use the laptop with external monitor via the HDMI port. The problem is I couldn’t find a bios option or OS option that will always output to external display by default, so I need to select the output to external monitor key after the laptop boots up (what if the display dies completely how will I be able to select the output to external monitor option)
  2. The bios gets reset every time even after replacing the cmos battery with a new one. So, this is how it has been going every day for the past year. Upon pressing the power button, the laptop spins up fans to full speed and after a couple of seconds laptop turns off, now if I press the power button again it boots up correctly.
  3. I’ve heard somewhere or read somewhere that when the display connector is removed from the laptop main board the laptop will default its output to external monitor. I’ve tried this but the laptop simply shuts off when the display connector is removed, I just want to use the laptop without its display, any solutions?
  4. This laptop has a M2 slot, but for some reason my Crucial BX500 ssd connected via sata works much faster than the WD Blue SN570 connected in m2 slot in all aspects like copying files, system performance, responsiveness etc

There is windows shortcut keys that allow switching display to external. Learn that shortcut. How to cycle it to external display even if you have no primary display.
