This issue has bothered me for a while now. I am unable to install any new software on my Windows 11 system. Anytime I run an installer exe or msi file, I constantly see this error.
I have tried changing the temp folder as well. From what I can see, I am unable to access windir/Installer folder. It says corrupt or unreadable.
My last resort is to perform a clean installation of Windows 11. But I would appreciate any inputs or assistance in this matter.
Usually the best way to solve obscure errors like this is with a reinstall.
The second best way is to make another administrator account and see if that account allows you to proceed.
The best way to prevent something like this is to make your main account a limited/regular/non-admin account and have a seperate administrator account that you don’t use for daily computing, only for authorizing system changes.
@Upsided Really man, Windows 11 sucks. It came installed with the laptop, otherwise I am still happy with Win10 on my older system.
Requiring two clicks to access properties and other options is a sin Microsoft has committed. The guy who designed that right click UX should be fired.
I always wipe the pre installed windows on any new system/laptop. Manufacturers tweak them according to their way. There is usually pre installed stuff that nobody needs.
I am using win11 on 10 year old system there are no errors.
The right click context menu speed went down with every windows release. It was so fast in old windows. Now it takes a second open the menu.
This and taskbar in win11 is running on some web based code, I think this is because in the future microsoft wants some form of cloud based OS, so same code runs in local machine and the web version. So they don’t have to maintain separate code bases.
This is signaling broken windows installer or your account doesn’t have admin permissions
Try these solutions:
Open CMD and run these steps
chkdsk C: /f /r
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
if issue still persists, try
check windows installer is running or not
unregister and reregister windows installer through cmd
msiexec /unregister
msiexec /regserver
if these steps doesnt resolve the problem then reinstalling windows will be the only option.
