Fake CPUs on Flipkart and amazon.

Recently bought a Ryzen 9800x3d from flipkart. Turns out to be a fake one with bent pins Yes, a ryzen 9800x3d with pointy pins. Thankfully it was an open box delivery and i checked in hands of delivery person. However, the cpu had proper qr code passing amd authentic test, left right changing hologram sticker. Please beware while buying online.

Did the flipkart packaging looked tampered with?

No seals were tampered. The delivery person opened it in front of me. The front of cpu even had serial number matching with that over qr code on seal.

I see. This is just out of curiosity and for future reference. As you can see the CPU before taking out of the box, is 9800x3d printed on the IHS?

samething happens to my order from amazon.luckily it was opened box delivery

Same issue with my Amazon order - and this was an Intel SkyLake 6th gen i5 CPU so you can imagine this has been happening for so many years! - at that time I only realised the issue next day - they replaced no questions asked though - perhaps due to my lengthy uneventful purchase history with them.

Everything was printed on IHS. Including a fake qr code .

We are at undeclared war with China, so be aware while buying anything online from Chinese Websites or websites that selling chines made goods.
Vietnam, Malaysia etc. too flooded with Chines Company working from there and they too (Chines company in these or any part of world) can try to harm Indian Economy/online market etc.
So don’t just careless reading Made In Vietnam/Made in Malaysia etc., on pack, strictly buy from near by old, reputed & trusted shops with proper GST Number Invoice.
Since long I personally stop buying Huawei & ZTE hardware.

I’m pretty sure it’s our very own fellow Indians doing these packaging scams, at least in this case.

Even then this appears to be a pretty complex operation, IHS swap, hologram seal intact. I suspect insider or international ring of fraudsters.

Nah. This scam appears to be international.

this is a very elaborate scam where warehouse people are fully involved, these stolen CPUs will be available in olx/marketplace in some time.

You mean at the OEM packaging warehouse but that is not here ? Otherwise how are they able to retain all the hologram seals unless of course they stole them. I saw that video but did not think that this type of sophisticated op will end up here as well.

somewhere in the supply chain they just replace the CPU

Why does the die package look shiny. They are usually come in matt finish. Seems like they removed the original die cover and used this. Sole reason I hate Flipkart. And also this is at least better than what Derbauer received.

If this is truly “international” (aka fiddling with supply chain) then I’m impressed :open_mouth:

It’s my assumption that these are returned products, i bought a 5600g in 2023 from flipkart and the serial number was missing from the invoice, considering the possible future warranty issues i raised complained to get a new bill but my product was returned and a new product was delivered because apparently they couldn’t make changes to already generated invoices. The working product was picked up without doing any checks, i guess scammers are doing because most of the delivery partners have no clue about IHS swapping, the lady who picked up my return order didn’t even check the product name on the processor and box. There’s also a possibility that delivery guys are also involved in this.

I have received the delivery of a total of 3 ryzen processors and didn’t face any issue personally
