nick do tell teh results if u do convert a movie for ur 5800 in less than 20 min with gpu accelerated video conversion

^^

yeh sure

Use AnyVideoConverter

Use the following settings:

  1. 640x360 resolution or 624x326 resolution

  2. Use a bit-rate around 768k for “good” and 1024k for “best” quality

  3. Audio 128kbps Stereo

Use these settings, excellent playback.

And oh, the format as .mp4 of course

AMD’s got a converter built into the catalyst control centre. I’m not sure if it’s a separate download or included in the base package, but you can get it on the driver site. It’s adequate, and free!

^^ very limited codec support, no option panel.

i dont mind if its good or average quality as it is for mobile viewing. i need the conversion to be quick.

15 minutes for a 1:30 (hh:mm) movie here, on a quad-core.

Hey… great idea. I’ll have to try this one. Thanks

If you’ve the latest Sandy Bridge processor, then nothing comes close to beating the QuickSync video encoding features of its HD3000/2000 IGP. Nearly 3X faster than the top dogs of AMD or NV! (Bench)
Connect your display to your MoBo’s (H67 or Z68) video out to use the IGP and use a compatible program like Media Expresso 6 or Arcsoft’s Media Converter 7. There should be a significant improvement.
Even if you’re on older processor, these programs support ATI Stream which will still give you accelerated speeds (although slower than QuickSync).
There’s also ATI’s Avivo Video Converter…

I don’t know if those 2 softwares you mentioned are free.

ahem ahem..

i dont think any video converter uses graphics processing

till now i am using this only but it takes very much time

tellme a video coverter which will boost my performence…

B/w i am in e7400 :face_with_tongue:

AVC doesn’t use video acceleration. BUt if you use Xillisoft or something, it uses AMD STream, but it works only for certain formats. ANd it doesn’t work for the mp4 640x360 format, because I have tried it.

Under light of these conditions, I suggested AVC, thanks to it’s clean interface, it’s pie to use, and just start conversion and leave it for (your’s is dual core so) 25 minutes depending on the length of the movie.

I use Xvid4Psp to convert videos for viewing on my PSP. Its pretty powerful and encoding usually takes around 20 mins on my system.
