GTA IV Just Got a Massive Visual Upgrade - Thanks to the FusionFix Mod

My favorite entry in the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto IV, has received an incredible unofficial graphics and performance overhaul with a mod called FusionFix.

This mod addresses a wide range of issues from long standing bugs and glitches to major improvements in visuals and performance. If you are planning to revisit GTA IV, playing the vanilla PC version in 2025 would be a huge missed opportunity, especially with FusionFix available.

What sets FusionFix apart is its authentic approach to visual enhancements. Unlike other mods that oversaturate colors or make rain slicked roads unrealistically reflective, FusionFix respects the original dark, gritty atmosphere of Liberty City while subtly enhancing it. It’s not just a cosmetic upgrade, it’s a preservation and elevation of the game’s intended mood.

Even better, several console exclusive assets have now been brought over to the PC version, making this the most complete way to experience GTA IV today.

Rumors of an Official Remaster?

There’s some buzz that Rockstar might be working on an official remaster of GTA IV. Personally, I doubt it will match what FusionFix has achieved. Mods like this are made with passion and a deep understanding of what made the original game great. A rushed remaster might polish the surface but miss the soul, like we already saw with San Andreas.

I still can’t believe I finished this game on an i3240 and Radeon HD 5450 with 15 to 20 fps and still enjoyed it. Maybe I will try it again with this mod.
