We aren’t sure about others yet, but ZOTAC is going to price this standard edition of the GTX465 at **approx Rs. 18,000. **It’s a bit expensive but then again it’s a new card, so a slightly inflated price at the beginning is expected.
Now let’s talk of the Nvidia GTX465 in general. Should you hold out for this card or simply get the ATI HD5850 which by the way can be found for roughly Rs.16,000. I would say ATI’s offering looks like a better all round deal. Performance wise both are evenly matched with the GTX465 winning in some games, while ATI takes the other games. At lower resolutions, the GTX465 seems to have the upper hand but again this isn’t true for all games while at full HD resolutions, it’s the HD5850 which seems to have the edge and that’s what counts really. You’re not going to sink in this kind of money to game at 1280x1024, it’s understood that you’ll be gaming at anything more than that. For the lower resolutions we have cheaper cards like the HD5770 that’ll easily satisfy you.
from the review i saw the gtx 465 was barely able to get anywhere near the HD5850 in performance , it was just about keeping up with a HD5830. At 18k i would rather go for a HD 5850 then this card … and forget this card exist.
Jump to the ATI wagon , gtx 465 does not make a lot of sense. Temperature wise its a pain , noise issue and power requirement are really f***** up , simply getting the biggest out there is not enough, nvidia needs time to perfect there fermi’s . Obivously they had to make something faster than ATI’s offerings been 6- 8 months late on the dx 11 brigade.Fermi’s are unoptimized raw graphic cards… period.
Another large FAIL. Much worse than the 470/480. With power consumption of approx 150-160W and performance of an OCed 5830 coming at a price of greater than 5850 ?? AMD can even lower the price of 5850 if they want as there’s been enough sales. But they don’t need to do that.
Seriously, Nvidia needs to get their act together. Pretty much everything people predicted since the announcement of Fermi (Difficulty to produce lower parts, power consumption, heat.. ) has come true. Nvidia products are still barely making it because ATI hasnt done price cuts. I dont see any necessity for them to do it either . This is bad.
Just wait for ATI 6xxx series in q4 2010 . Its gonna snatch the ground from ATI’s foot . By August 2009 , you can very well assume price drops of ATI 5xxx series to sub 15k max . Then situation will be even worse for Nvidia considering they haven’t got even 6 months proper time to sell their cards properly
If I were to buy a card in that category I would still buy a HD5850, Sapphire costs 15.7K cause the performance is the same..give and take a few fps, but in terms of efficiency the 5850 wins hands down
@All the futuristic speculators:
Please do not repeat the mistake we all made with the ‘nuclear’ Fermi. For months and months we advised prospectors to ‘hold their horses’, wait for the ‘big nVidia release’, and ‘ATI will have an answer’. We all know what we got. End of the day Fermi has been a flop, and totally not worth the value for the money plus the downside of high temperatures and power consumption.
