Hello guys! Today i am looking for most accurate smartplug that give live usage of wattage, current and voltage used through it. My current one is now totally useless after the app update came, shows old data as 6 hours ago.. this is like this for a month now. So again im looking for a good smartplug for my power optimization endeavours! Thank you.
Wipro 10A smart plug with Energy… Amazon.in
Have been using these since 3 years
Thank you bro..
Best part about these are that you can still operate them even if there’s no internet provided your on the same wireless network plus they are open system
Good to know…i hate my chinese rebranded one the app was barely functional before now after update its useless.. only good for remote on/off, no measurements coming
You can try smart life app it’s good just reset the plug and scan from the app
Yes smart life app its the same one I have. Its bugged after update..
Mine is working fine, you can also integrate in home assistant if you want
These are good but their energy measurement is not accurate, the difference can be as much as +20-30% over actual values but not sure if things have improved nowadays.
The one I have seen work via bluetooth when there is no internet connectivity in wifi network.
The one that I have are 3 yrs old
Bought 5 out of which 2 stopped working
I have a 16 amp one is quite good
Smart plugs do not measure Energy Consumption accurately, if you want to measure wattage accurately you need to buy wattage meter which good ones are probably double the cost of smart plugs.
True but thanks to some helpful folks commenting on the difference between value measured by smart plus vs wattage meter one can get a rough estimate of consumption by using a factor to correct the smart plug values.
tp link tapo ones are likely accurate. I have used them a few times, and readings made sense. But they don’t work without internet access. Data i think keeps getting collected but cant view it.
One workaround that i used was to give it access only via mobile hotspot which i can turn on or off, instead of permanent access to lan and internet.
@rsaeon compared it with another instrument too.
Are you using the “new rich text editor” mode in post compose box because default is “standard markdown editor” mode? I simply select the text in post I want to quote in another thread & then click on Quote which puts the entire formatted quoted text in post compose box which I then copy past to the thread in which I want to reference quote that post like this:
My recommendation would be TPlink Tapo.
I am using it, the readings are reasonable and accurate. I have checked many devices ranging from 8 watts to 1350 watts. The readings are always within +/- 3% of the wattage mentioned for the appliance.
By the way, I got if from Zepto available at 699 INR.
I just put the url, everything else was done by discourse which seemed to have glitched out here maybe. I did not quote.
I think its the new mode, i use same on Zerodha forums. Seeing this for the first time.
I don’t need accuracy..just need general idea to optimise power consumption.. like i can ignore ±10% inaccuracy
Home assistant only have on off button. Nothing comes, no data at all.. what to do?
The one i have used to be fairly accurate when the live measurement data actually worked, now it’s totally bugged. By accurate, i mean it was showing exact wattage rated for the appliance, down to 0.x wattage. Tested chargers, mini pc, table fan, laptop.
I would recommend Tapo P110 as well, It is quite accurate as tested by forum member here Smart Plug - #6 by rsaeon
The app is really good and there are also python scripts so that you can monitor data from your PC/Mac terminal
