i need a something to convert mybook 1TB from FAT to NTFS without deleting the data
things i,ve tried
- Windows Disk Management is disabled as long as this drive is connected
- Partition Magic says to reboot for the changes but the drive has that USB Power thing that it only powers on when needed only so it cannot detect it while booting so operation failed
any other suggestions
PS:i do not want to lose the data that is on it
i think the “Convert” key shud do…
To convert the volume on drive D to NTFS and display all messages, type:
convert d: /fs:ntfs /v at the run prompt
ps:Volumes converted from FAT to NTFS lack some performance benefits compared to volumes initially formatted with NTFS. On converted volumes, the MFT might become fragmented
is there any chance of loss of data of .zip .rar files going corrupt
Normally no chance of loss of data during conversion from fat32 to ntfs but its recommended you take some backup
Nope. It’s quite safe. But then backup the essentials just so you don’t regret it later.
One thing to remember I guess is to run scandisk and ensure that there are no logical errors on the FAT32 volume before doing the conversion to NTFS.
Acronis disk manager will do it too
the code did not work
neither did Acronis disk manager
gives some error
says manufacturer locked …something .
code din wrk??? did u go to dos prompt and try it from dere???
