Help me buy a 3d Printer

I am thinking of buying a 3d printer. Mostly for hobby stuff, might even open a 3d printing service on the side but that is not the main goal.
Budget is not an issue but I don’t want to overspend, so 50-60K limit I think.

Based on a cursory search and youtube, I have finalised Bambu Lab A1 Combo.

https://robu.in/product/bambu-lab-a1-combo-3d-printer

This is for 50K. Robu also has A1 mini combo for 40K.

I am thinking it’s just 10k difference, so I’d rather have the bigger model.
Are these the best deals currently in India? Have I missed any newer models launching? Do you guys know any other seller or better deals?

All suggestions and advice are welcome. Thank you.

Anyone?

My recommendation is based upon this video, the guy recommends an older version of the above which is P1P model, but at this point just get the P1S. You can not go wrong with this one. Your search ends here.

Now the next thing you should be looking at should I get the P1S with or without the combo. That’s upto you. Here is the link to combo one -

Thanks for the reply. Right now, my only requirement is being beginner friendly and for hobby projects. I would have probably shelled out 60K if it was for combo, but 85k seems a pretty significant jump from A1 combo of 50k. And doesn’t make sense to pay 60k for the unit alone compared to a combo at 50k and miss out on multicolour. Looks sleek though. I’ll continue watching youtube channels on these for another week, it seems.

Your keywords for search should be “Bambu Lab A1 vs Bambu Lab P1S” don’t include the AMS system.

Because they are a separate thing and they almost cost the same.

The P1S AMS has some advantages, but depending upon what filaments are you really going to use, the A1 could be a better choice, because from the money you save, you can buy other stuff like a dedicated filament dryer

https://robu.in/product/creality-space-pi-filament-dryer/

which itself costs 10k. Beneficial for improving print quality and shelf life of some type of filaments.

The P1S AMS has enclosure, and have pockets to put desiccants, I think this helps keeping the moisture away from your spools.

Coming back to the printers
Some people prefer the A1 over P1S, because it has some advantages (perhaps due to simplicity), but other prefer the P1S.

Ignoring all that, I think the P1S with enclosure alone puts it ahead and justify the price, cause our enviornment is dusty, and dust and moving parts don’t go together.

Cost of the printers alone.

The P1S is double the price.

I think there are no wrong decisions here, both are solid choice for their money.

So, I am still looking and have finalized Elegoo Centauri Carbon.

Before I pull the trigger, anyone have any advice to share?

Btw there are lots of dealers/sites selling this. Can anyone recommend who is more reliable?

I think Elegoo is trying to buy market share by disrupting the market through lower prices. There’s nothing wrong with that.

I have only bought one Elegoo product so far an Arduino kit and it was fine.

However, I do wonder about the availability of parts and long term support. With Bambu, there’s already an established community, which Elegoo currently lacks.

Elegoo isn’t just a printer company, they sell a wide range of products. Bambu, on the other hand, is focused solely on 3D printers.

Can’t tell, do not have any experience with any of them.

One thing you can try is hit up Robu.in with mail, ask them when will the ELEGOO Centauri carbon 3D Printer will be back in stock.

Or say I am about to buy it from this seller, can you get it for cheaper?

That’s a good idea. Will send them an email.

And yeah, I understand your points about Elegoo. But seeing that they are aggressively trying to gain a market share and have stocks of this printer in so many countries now (at the launch time, there were weeks of waiting lists), I believe they will sort out the parts availability.

If P1S combo was just around 60-65K, I would have gone for that. But 85k seems too steep compared to this.

Hey @bakasur, did you manage to buy one? The p1s combo is currently available at 62k. I’m interested in buying one, but having second thoughts as this will be my 1st printer and the cost as well.

Yes, I got A1 during 15th august sale. I was keen on P1s or a similar enclosed model, but I watched lots of youtube videos and turned out P1S is older than A1 and misses some new features, like A1 has “quick-swap” or clip-in nozzle / tool head options that make it easy, faster to swap nozzles. P1S requires unscrewing, disassembly, more work. A1 includes a flow rate sensor in the hotend that helps automatically calibrate filament flow, P1S lacks this. There are some other QoL enhancements even though A1 is more basic/entry level.

I got A1 without the AMS lite, as I thought I might upgrade to a better printer combo down the line, but now I wish I had gotten the combo. So if in doubt, get the combo.

Right now is the best time to get a 3d printer as prices have been lowered twice in the last few months as new models are expected to launch soon. New models will be pricey, I think they are launching H2S and H2C first, the higher end models, and the successors of lower end like A1 or P1S have not been announced yet, and might still be far off.

A1 is quite good for a hobbyist/beginners like us. You won’t regret it.

Yeah, a1 looks more VFM compared to P1S.

Sure, will keep this in mind

Yeah, but I’m not sure if it’s worth spending 40k on this. While chatting with a friend, he asked me what I would be printing with it and whether it would justify the steep cost. That gave me second thoughts about the purchase.

Bambu has launched P2s printer. It seems to be more steeply priced than P1s. Currently P1s combo is about 62.5k. Everyone online says its a super reliable printer.

P2s however has lots of QOL updates that make it honestly too good.

What should I do? Get P1s at discount or wait for P2s prices to normalize.

Currently price difference is about 35k for combo but P2s comes with AMS 2 pro and overall latest tech.

Another black horse is Snapmaker U1 launched few months ago with 4 heads and much less waste. Around 800$ price equals P2s combo price eventually. Any idea when its coming?

If you want a 3d printer now, then get P1S. P2S is ok not worth the 35K premium for now. If you can spare it, yes definitely P2S is better.

Snapmaker U1 is a totally different ballgame. It’s a game changer however Indian vendors won’t be stocking it till Q2 next year AFAIK.

What I have seen is that Bambu labs pricing is US price converted to rupee + 18% + 3-5k more.
That doesnt convert to a lot more considering current us pricing. 550$ & 800$. These are just normal prices. I think these might fall during sales once P1S is out of the picture.
What do you think?
