Help me choose a Budget Desktop Speaker

Hey fellow TE members, I want to cut down the time I keep my headphones on. So I’m looking for budget desktop speakers with decent sound since I do a bit of video editing.

Budget is - Rs.3000

These two are my top picks, please suggest me something that I won’t regret days later.

Creative Pebble V2

Creative Pebble with subwoofer

If you are into sound bars then

I am confused if pebble with subwoofer is better than the V2 and V3.

V3 is exciting becaue it does audio + power over a single cable. It also has aux input and bluetooth.

V2 and Plus 2.1 require separate wire for power and signal.

Plus 2.1 also seems to be USB powered, so I don’t know if subwoofer is really adding something useful here.

Pebble V3 has slightly bigger speakers at 2.25" vs 2 inch in the other two.

Maybe I’m being too picky, But i want something black or white that will go well with my new gaming room,

the speakers are 8W, so sound should at least be decent enough. No idea about the subwoofer or if it is even worth paying extra.

Get the 2.1, out of all it has the most bass, it might not be a subwoofer, just woofer, but this comment discribes it perfectly.

With 2.1 there will be lot of wires, but that is the price to pay for little bit of bass.

Thanks mate, I’m ordering the 2.1 right now.

Will share my experience here when I get them.

Keep expectations lower, because both speakers are 2 watt each and the sub is 4 watt according to specs.

At 3k price this is the best we gonna get in terms of quality, not loudness.

and also, these do work on PC USB port but

The PC won’t be able to give 5V 2A, so use external adapter for power. Preferably an original phone charger.

if the 2.1 has 2W speakers,
doesn’t that make v2 the better option, it says total system power 8W and no woofer.

What do you listen to ? If you need bass then woofer is better. If you prefer vocals then no woofer is fine. Here is a more objective thread on the variants -

Both are 8W.

You trade little bit of highs and mids on left and right speaker with slightly more bass on subwoofer on 2.1.

Total sound output on both the sytems is same.

My main use case will be gaming, calls and editing where I need to hear vocals.
