After honoring the warranty, Keychron India is offering me to replace my faulty chattering V6 QMK. Since, they are out of stock with a V6, they are asking me to choose from their India specific catalog a equivalent priced keyboard. The original keyboard costed me INR 9499.
Considering so many documented QC issues at Keychron, can someone please suggest me a 80% replacement board that doesn’t chatter and will give me a peace of mind.
I’m leaning towards K8 v2, due their see through keycaps, but I’ll prioritize reliability over anything else.
This was my first Keychron board and even though they have honored their warranty, it has definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth.
If you really only want reliability TVS Bharat Gold is your best bet
There’s no one board that is clearly more reliable than the others, everyone has QC issues.. just look which board/keycaps you prefer and get it. You could also consider switching to the low profile k3 something if you want to shake things up.
Since you’re looking for an 80% board, the K8 v2 is probably the closest match in their lineup. If you’re prioritizing reliability, maybe go for a non-hot-swappable version with pre-lubed Gateron G Pro switches—they tend to have fewer chattering issues.
