Hey everyone,
I’m stuck deciding whether I should upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max now or hold out for the 17 Pro Max till later this year
I feel like the 16 Pro Max wasn’t super groundbreaking. Sure it has the new AI features but they don’t seem fully baked in yet. It seems like just a minor upgrade compared to older models.
What do you all think? Is it worth upgrading now, or should I hold off? Would love to hear your thoughts!
For what purpose do u need a phone?
Nah the 16 series is not a good one to upgrade to, the new ai features don’t even work that well. If have anything above or equal to the 11 series you should be fine for another 6-7 months when the 17 series gets announced and then make up your mind.
You will be upgrading from which iPhone.
I think you should do none of those things that you have mentioned as your options.
From what it looks like smartphone hardware has peaked with now only marginal improvements further down the line and from your post you don’t sound like you NEED what the AI offers anyway.
So I would suggest hold out for the 17 Pro Max release and then buy the 16 Pro Max, would save you money and things would have become more optimized for the 16 by then.
Not looking for anything specific. It’s just the usual upgrade.

If USB C is not essential to you at the moment, you don’t care about the dynamic island and AI is not important to you then you have got a perfectly good phone right now.
16PM is not very different from 13PM. I have never used the proclaimed AI features.
Wait till 17. If it’s no different either, you could probably buy 16pm cheaper then
