Hello, I’ve been wondering if I should buy a better motherboard within the same AM4 build or should I upgrade to AM5. Realistically I’d like to upgrade but I’d have to get the amount back from my own part which isn’t an issue although what I’m worried about is if its worth upgrading by adding a bit more money or not?
my build is Ryzen 5 5500, Asus prime b550m–a, corsair vengeance pro ddr4 8gb 3200mhz and a msi 1650s oc.
AM5 upgrade will cost you around 35k for proccy, mobo and RAM. Buying a GPU like RX 9060xt 16GB will cost 36k while RTX 5060 ti 16GB will cost 44k.
So I think going with AM4 upgrade is cost effective.
Like upgrading to 5700X3D (2nd hand) and adding more RAM.
I would say just hold on for a while. The ram prices are ridiculous.
myself running a 5600G and a 1660S, did get a the proc used along with x570 itx board and a 850w PSU and was planning to upgrade my GPU but for now it works very well for the games that I play.
But holding on might not be helpful in the case of RAM, as they are supposed to remain high for next few years. The AI data-centers have pre-booked most of the RAM from all major suppliers and the prices might remain elevated for next year as well.
Then I guess I should hold on for a while and upgrade my AM4 as much as I can. Thank you.
Tbh I’d like upgrade my motherboard for more argb headers, better looks, and better connectivity like usb header for front panel.
