I’ve been looking into buying AC and so far the consensus is hitachi, godrej, voltas, lg are considered low quality.
Daikin, panasonic and bluestar are best in class. Also the energy rating of 4 and higher is a must
As for my experience, I have brought hitachi 1.5 ton 5 star around 43k and its working well.
26k is a best deal even if its 3 star, energy savings are not much unless you using it daily for long hours.
Wrong .Daikin uses their own tech . Low end Daikins are not good . Quality comparable to most others .
Panasonic rebrands Carrier Ac for their low end models . Ones manufactured in Thailand or Malaysia are Panasonic . Made in India is mostly Carrier .
Bluestar also rebrands Carrier and Gree ones .
Actual good ones are Mitsubishi and GE . Especially their 410A gas models . They are built like a tank .
Mitsubishi also makes Akabishi which is another Carrier .
@yugaaa Can you recommend a good 1.5 ton that’s available online?
Do you need an inverter or normal AC ?
What is the use case ?
Are you going to install or getting it done ? I ask this as the R32 , R410A gas operates under high pressure and also seems to corrode the copper faster .
This will be for my newly constructed house. I usually only need to use AC during summer so I think a 3 star is good enough like Qubit mentioned.
I’m not too sure how to decide between inverter and non.
For a room sized 150~sqft. Only during summer. Don’t necessarily need wifi and other features (phone has ir)
Is your house close to any sewers ? drainages ?
No sewers but we’re connected to the BBMP drainage in Bangalore.
Sorry to keep asking questions too much .
Is the sewer close to your house ? Is it covered .
Main failure for an AC is the toxic gas from sewers .
Since you are in Bangalore , you do not want bloatware features on the AC you can buy an inverter AC . It would help with a constant cool breeze .
You can go with the latest R32 gas since it can be topped up , unlike 410A which needs to be removed and refilled .
The cheap and best option right now is Carrier made Lloyd ,Voltas , Blue star , Godrej or even Carrier .
The carrier indoor has better air gaps in the fins , which reduces blockage compared to a costly panasonic / Daikin , OG which has fins designed for more efficiency but not suitable for our dusty cities .
The cheapest one Marq on flipkart is a rebranded carrier without the frills . My choice would be Marq unless you are bothered with the name plate . Inside the AC it has the same parts as Voltas , Godrej or Carrier . Just the sticker is different . The PCB is the same , indoor and outdoor weight the same .
Advantage with these Carrier or Toshiba ones are that you can get it serviced very easily down the line after a few years . PCB boards , Coils are all available easily .
Before you install I would suggest you spray your indoor/outdoor coil pipes on the sides and not on the coil . This helps with corrosion and gives a normal Ac a better life . https://www.indiamart.com/proddetail/wesaf-ac-coil-coating-spray-paint-2853384686497.html?srsltid=AfmBOorHuJDgdz25HKd7zMV1ol3GiywLO0MtDpDvTdVgyBc0tgLrCRkl
The coating spray needs a day to dry . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osNLrtwBAhA
Advise you to spray a day before and install the next day after the coating has dried .
90% of AC issues are coil leaks and this is a sureshot way to keep the AC working for a long time .
