yep, just got the prices from the dealer, 320 GB seagate for 5k and 400GB for 7.2k here. No point in getting the 400GB one.

How abt the Western digital HDD.
They r also very good.
even i was Told the Same thing,they provide door to Door Replacment & customer care .. but not sure on there Quality Of HDD & reliability.anybody can comment on that ?

Mine says Made in China.
The new lot of Hitachi’s in the market are made in China - I bought a 160GB Hitachi last week and it is the first made in China Hitachi I have received. Seems to work fine though.
^^ Even i have the one made in china, its working pretty good, silent and cool.
Not sure yet, i hope i dont have to find out about that soon either..
Have the same board as u (Foxconn - NF4XK8MC-RS) which i think has SATA1 ports only and I didnt have any hassles yet. The HDD was detected by the system automatically.
I think the HDD automatically configures itself. Will run HD Tach later on this and post results.
I think only the T7K500 series Hitachi’s have this Auto configure system which works only with newer MoBo’s. With older non supported MoBo’s you are out of luck until you set the HDD as a SATA 1 on another newer MoBo 
The older T7K250 HDDs have to be set via the Feature Tools software.
Just got my Hitachi 320GB Sata 2 and it worked automatically in my zippy casing
without any issues.
Got is for 4550 Rs from Apex.
I told nilesh that many ppl were giving me the HDD for 4550 on lammy so he
too gave me for 4550.
Formatting the HDD now.
Also its a Thiland made.
Currently wondering what to fill in it.
JEESE… !!! … I paid APEX 5500/- for this HDD in November 2006 !!! WOW !!! I was there an hour back and I asked him for a refund on my purchase…
Fill it up with prOn … what else is there

Gives me a max 35 MB/s.
Havent yet tried directly connecting it to my mobo’s sata port , will do that in the evening.

my first Hitachi drive after 6 Seagate drives (400MB PATA = gone with 386 rig, 4GB PATA = gone with P1 rig, 40GB PATA = Dads P3 Rig, 40GB PATA = thrown away, 160GB SATA1 = my rig & 300GB SATA2 = my rig) & 1 Samsung drive (80GB PATA = Sisters/Nephews P4 Rig) :ashamed:{/OT]
