Someone I know wants to purchase a Videocon LED HDTV since it is priced quite reasonably for the components it uses. What is the general perception around here on the quality and service for this? Please pitch in!
Is it the one with built-in DTH ?
i was going to post the pics of a member on HFV, who had bought a 55" Videocon LED TV about 2 years ago. i had been impressed seeing the PQ in the photos at that time. was searching for his post just now, when i found out **this! **though now TVs from even more reputed brands conk off just as the warranty expires or is about to expire, i can’t comment on whether this will be a VFM purchase or not. may be this is a one-off case, or may be not. other replies should help.
I have seen TVs from almost all big name manufacturers malfunctioning and needing repairs after 2-3 years. So, while Videocon will be VFM and may seem like a risk from reliability angle, buying some other brand may not necessarily mean reliability. If possible, buy something that gives 3-year warranty. Philips was giving it in Dec 2014, but I suppose not anymore.
Panasonic provides three years warranty..
Looks like TV’s nowadays have a self destruct button. As soon as warranty period is over, TV goes bad.
I have decided not to invest in this generation of TV’s.
One should always invest in good stabilizer for LED tvs, which is a common mistake such as V-gaurd crystal plus series.. More then 50% of issues are caused by not having a good stabilizer..
