I have a Keychron K2 v2, I am hard time keeping it clean , any tips are really appreciated
Don’t eat near your desk, that’s rule number one ![]()
You can pop the keycaps off and wash them once in a while, that’s totally fine.
If you’ve got pets, you’ll need to clean your keyboard more often, hair gets everywhere.
I usually take the switches out every 2–3 months and clean everything properly with a brush and some rubbing alcohol.
Just don’t use water on the keyboard after removing the keycaps, always use rubbing alcohol.
Be gentle when pulling switches out, no need to rush and mess up the sockets.
And obviously, make sure your keyboard is hot-swappable (yours is), otherwise don’t try removing switches at all. Also for the keycaps, if it’s not painted, you can use soapy water to soak it for a while and take a brush and clean it and dry them ( i am not an expert on this, but I have a mechanical keyboard and this is what i do)
I think I followed this YT video, worked fine for me: https://youtu.be/_M42Ri3dqoc?si=WInb5XeuzHxZ3fQJ
Keychron K4 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard (Version 2) - Red Switch - Gateron - RGB Backlight Aluminium
Ha ha this is exactly how I clean mine as well. Keycaps in soapy water and keyboard chassis with VC. But laziness, stress etc just pushing me to the idea like below (comment taken from the above vid itself)
Pretty straightforward, take out all the keys and go through each of them one by one with a mixture of water and some soap .
I would say soap is just fine.
Let em dry and put back on ,all done.
I also have a Keychron K2V2, and do a thorough clean twice a year. I’m not sure if you still have the dust cover that came with it. I always put it on when I ditch the PC for the night. It slows down the dust accumulation process a bit.
I follow the same process as @Master_chief mentioned. But I soak all my keys in a soapy water bowl for 10-15 minutes, which loosens the grime, and then wipe them and dry them. I used a handheld vacuum cleaner last time to clean the keyboard body (around the switches), but you can just use a toothbrush and probably do a better job. I think I even used Q-tips and IPA and wiped it clean.
Post the cleaning session from last month.

It comes in both variants actually. Hot swappable and soldered.
That 100% works. Done it myself and the keyboard was just like brand new. Also if you don’t have IPA you can just use damp cloth in between the switches gap. Just don’t let it be too damp.
@sauravghosh She approves that method
I used ipa recently to clean it to sell my keyboard . AVoid using water as it can create stain marks no matter how much you clean.
remove all caps and clean sides and clean each of them individually.
Its time taking process though
