How to play HD-DVD rip on your PC ?

Yup… The HDDVD rip on the HDD and not a physical one.Already tried Power DVD 8 and its not working. The KMPlayer is playing it but is very very laggy.

What player to use.

VLC ? What’s your pc config btw ? Lags might be due to bottleneck by CPU .

Yep VLC player is very good , although for HD content you need a high end pc with powerful CPU and GPU.

a amd 4800x2 and equivalent intel processor or above should play it fine, i think these are not hig end any more

Did any of you guys read the first post carefully…

Its not .mkv envolope file… its a direct rip of a HD DVD… I did not say HD movie…

And my config is a E8400+2GB DDR2 800Mhz + HD4870… Also FYI VLC cant play 1080 rips properly…

I will post again. I dont need to play HD movies. I need to play a direct rip from a HD DVD. Like you had a HD DVD and you copied the whole damm thing on your PC. What software will you use to play it. Powerdvd 8 doesn’t work. And neither does K-Lite Codec pack. KM Player plays it but is really really laggy.

To the guys owning Blueray drives for their PC’s. What player did come with your your drives to play the Blue Ray movies.

whats the file extension? .ts? (bluray/ hddvd)

try DVB Portal

directx filter. will allow even wmp to play those files.

PowerDVD stopped playing HD-DVD after 7.3[6.5 might work]

Never had a single issue while playing HD content, donno but this is the player that always worked for me :slight_smile:

Yo man. Wat u need is Power dvd version 7.3 ultra which ive got and it plays HDdvds (ive got that X360 HDdvd add on drive) fine on ma rig. So it shudnt be a prob playing the entire HD dvd uncompressed rips. The later power dvd versions stopped supporting HDdvds. So chk it out and u shud be fine.

And ur rite, VLC seems to struggle with 1080p rips. So are there any other players that can play 1080p rips smoothly with dolby and dts surround decoding?

^^ media player classic. it doesn’t even bat an eye if you skip forward or backward while playing 1080p content. i have a few movies in 1080p.

^yup MPC rocks. vlc doesnt play it properly.

i think powerdvd would work for you.
