Intel Files a Lawsuit Against Former Employee Who Stole “Top-Secret” Data After Being Fired from a Position He Held for More Than a Decade

Intel is experiencing an incident of ‘information theft’ by one of its former employee, who has allegedly stolen ‘top secret’ data, despite being with the company for more than a decade.

Intel’s Former Employee Accused of Stealing a Massive 18,000 Files From Internal Database

Well, it appears that the latest round of layoffs within Team Blue has ‘pissed’ off an employee, who has stolen sensitive data from the firm, according to a report by the OregonLive. The employee, named Jinfeng Luo, is reported to have been with Intel since 2014 and had recently received a layoff notice, which terminated his employment as of July 31st. It is said that during his end days, Luo had stolen around 18,000 files from Intel’s internal database, which included “top secret” data.

On July 23, Intel claims, Luo tried to download a file from his work laptop to an external hard drive. Internal company controls prevented that. But five days later, Intel says that Luo connected another storage device and downloaded 18,000 files.

After the ‘shady’ file transfer attempt, Intel looked into the matter and started an investigation, which found Luo to be the perpetrator. Team Blue has formally sent the individual a ‘lawsuit’, but after months of contacting him at his original address in Seattle. Now, Intel is demanding $250,000 in damages and a court order to ensure that Luo doesn’t leak out sensitive information. This occasion is surprising, to say the least, but it appears that the latest round of layoffs has disappointed several Intel employees, including those who were part of the core team.

The lawsuit is yet to be concluded, and we haven’t seen any statement from Luo himself, so it’s too early to say how the situation will turn out. Judging by the fact that Intel is reporting “Top Secret” content to be stolen, the matter is a serious concern for Team Blue.

This is how the Chinese are making progress in their Tech field.

While Indians are lamenting that our govt isn’t showing any interest in creating fabs in India or encouraging tech in India.

We also need to send people or ask people to bring such kind of files so that we can make our own chips.

Insider threats are prevalent in larger organizations especially in the US. Intel is now halfway owned by the US Govt. so it was bound to happen.

Here is the attack timeline -

July 7, 2025: Luo notified of pending dismissal

  • July 23, 2025: Initial exfiltration attempt blocked by security controls when trying to transfer files to external hard drive

  • July 28, 2025: Successful data exfiltration using alternative storage device (personal Network-Attached Storage device) - 18,000 files downloaded

  • Post-incident: Subject went dark, cutting off all communication attempts (phone, email, postal mail)

Jinfeng Luo FTW! Intel can screw itself.

What if he leaks that information all over internet…!
